The deed is in my name. What does it mean to add an associate and what rights do they get?

From the member website:
An "Associate" is a person named by the Purchaser or Purchasers who is only authorized to make reservations using the Club Member's Home Resort Vacation Points. Associates do not receive Member Cards and are not entitled to the benefits and privileges that are available to a Club Member. In addition, Associates may not access financial information related to the Annual Dues and/or loan pertaining to the Club Member's Ownership Interest.

Thanks! I looked on the site and could only find info on adding an associate, but no explanation. I'll look harder next time!;)

You were close to finding it there. A little further down the profile page is a link for 'Understanding Your Profile'. That page has the information on the different member types. The 'Understanding Your Profile' link is also under Account Help.

they changed it - before the only thing that associate could not have was the cash discount on DVC room and the cash discount on the annual passes.

they could get a few of the discounts.

They really haven't changed it. The only discounts an associate was eligible for were the ones any guest could get. They have slowly required more documentation to get those discounts usually the blue membership card.

Are associate members no longer entitled to the AP discount? Thanks!:flower3:
They've never been eligible to get the AP discount unless they met the other criteria, even then, a member should be present to get the discount. Simply being an associate has never given them this discount even if they member we along.

Dean, would you know what the other criteria is? Interested as DH is looking into buying and just his income etc; so guide I would be an associate:confused3 I have no clue what that means. Thanks!

There is a list of family type people. It's pretty broad including in laws but you also must be at the same address as the member. I'd still put your name on the deed even if you only use his income to qualify.
