What is a single dad to do?

Hi All,
I'm traveling on the 7/10 Eastern with my two teen daughters for the first time cruising. I'm sure they are going to be very involved in the kids and teen clubs especially the days were at sea. As a single is there enough things to do on the boat to stay entertained? I know the cruise is not about singles and "looking for love" but, it would be nice to meet other single parents and not feel as if your the third wheel.

You will have PLENTY to keep you amused! Many folk travel on their own, and there are daily get-togethers with other single passengers, or people whose partners want to "do their own thing" and leave them with spare time to fill. Look out for news of the gatherings in the Navigator. Nat

I was worried about that as well. But if you go over to the "Cruise Meets" section of the board and subscribe to the thread with your cruise date - you'll be surprised how many nice people you'll connect with right away. I'm pretty sure that over the course of the 14 days I'm on the ship, I might be alone a lot. But I am also pretty happy about the DISers cruising on the ship and I would feel pretty comfortable asking them to join me in some activity(ies).

On the other hand, as a single-parent, how often do we get time alone???? You might relish every second!!

Sunday - 12:30pm - Cruise Staff Lunch - If you're single or a single parent join your Cruise Staff for an informal lunch at Parrot Cay.

Sunday - 10pm - Singles, single parents: Meet at Rockin' Bar D to enjoy the show and a night of fun.

Monday - 12:30pm - Cruise Staff Lunch

Thursday - 12:30pm - Cruise Staff Lunch

I’m married, but was traveling alone with my daughter, there seemed to be a large amount of single mothers with their kids on our cruise. Wonder 3-Day last week.
I talked to quite a few of them out by the kiddy pool during the day (Goffy Pool) I told everyone of them I was married, A single man could have had some fun. What I would do if I were single is on the first night go to the Singles Mingle and then from then on you will be a marked man. They will all know you are single. I did not go to that party and still seemed to be somewhat of a target.

We had a Grandpa-grandson duo at our table of 2 other married couples. The grandson often skipped events to go to his club. Grandpa was such a nice man that we often sat with him wherever we ran into him and he was by no means a 3rd wheel!

For your responses. I'll have to be careful and watch out on being a "marked" single man on the trip.

But seriously, it sounds like I won't have to worry about being bored. I'm looking forward to meeting new people from all over the country on this cruise. Sun and fun here we come....

I noticed the cruise staff lunch listed in the recent Navigators and even though I'm not single and I should mind my own business I'm curious if anyone has done this. Do you just join the staff while their taking their lunch breaks or is this a special planned gathering?

I'm not single, but was traveling with a mother daughter team on a recent cruise so most of my time was spent alone. I went to the singles lunch and had a lot of fun. The cruise staff are all outgoing people who are accomplished in the art of making conversation. It was a lot of fun!

Also, I had no problem striking up conversations with other groups of people - like grandma, child, grandchild, or obviously grandpa, grandson. Actually spent more time with some of them than my own party.

When i went to breakfast alone at Tritons, both days the servers filled a table with people who wandered in alone - it was so much fun!

You'll have a blast! Don't worry!
