we gave our 15yr old the Canon S3 for her birthday and now she is looking for software for xmas. What would be a good one for her to start with. She is looking to be able to do some ' different things ' ( this is her words and I'm not sure what she means :confused3

I am not looking to spend hundreds of dollars

thanks in advance.

My suggestion would be photoshop elements. A few folks here use paintshop pro. Both of them I believe can be downloaded for trial for free.

Also, since your daughter is in school you can check out this site http://www.campustech.com you get 25 and up % off of a lot of different programs. Definately worth checking out.

Thank you for your quick reply. I quickly just looked at the webisite you sugested and the prices seem very good.

I will do some more research to make sure to get the right one but more than likely we will start her out with the photoshop elements. thanks again.

I highly recommend PAint shop pro, it will allow you pretty much everything that photo shop does, at a much lower price, it also has a much easier learning curve, it has a tooth whitening tool, a suntan brush, a blemish remoer tool,,,

the nice thing about it is it allows you to grow, with it,,,, most things canbe done with prprogrammed actions, as you learn you can do these things manually and have more control

I'd probably stick with a Photoshop product (Elements or the full-fledged product). It's a standard software in the photo field and your daughter will most likely be able to collaberate with her friends easily. Also, Photoshop is cross-platform, allowing Mac users to be comfortable on PC platforms (or, God forbid, vice-versa) as the controls are much the same on either machine. I'm not sure all other products provide this flexibility.

another option would be a free program like GIMP, a very good program
