I keep hearing about these wonderful Potato Heads. I know what the original Mr. Potato Head is... how does it differ from the Disney kind? If anyone out there has a photo I would be very appreciative!!! Also, where do you get them?

As always, thanks for your help!!

They are the original Mr. Potato Head, however, you can buy other pieces such as: Mickey mouse ears, mickey bars etc.

It is too much fun to make a Potato Head! They have special areas in Mouse Works (Epcot), World of Disney, and the children's shop at Disney-MGM just to name a few. He is a regular Potato Head, but the arms, hats, and assorted accesories are Disney-specific. You get to fill a box for a set price. I managed to get one of each piece in the box, but it was a tight squeeze and took some patience. Themed Potato Head kits are also available for purchase but are not as much fun as filling a box yourself.

Some examples of the pieces are MM ears, a Sorceror Mickey hat, Mickey sunglasses, and feet that are wearing WDW flip flops. But the best accesories are the things he can hold in his hands. Make sure you get at least one of each of the two types of arm because regular Potato Head arms won't hold these. The accesories include an autograph book with MM bent pen, Mickey Bar, and camera with mouse ears.

I filled my box at MouseWorks while my kids were sleeping. Potato Head was really for me, and I had a blast putting my box together, but I was glad the kids were there as my excuse for putting him together.

It is the best!!! We bought one for DD and she loves it! I want to make one the next time we are there to have in my class room! I'll put it on my desk and the kids will know if I am happy..etc!!!!

I would suggest buying your Potato body somewhere else like Walmart and saving all the room in the box for the special Disney stuff. Even with a CM helping us, we weren't able to fit in a few of the bigger items.

We had one body from a Christmas gift and found a couple more at yard sales and thrift stores after we decided we wanted to do this.

We bought two boxes and had a great time filling them up, but didn't begin to get two of everything. Some of the pieces are huge. We got extras of the little things but had to let some of the big ones go.

Mr. Potato Head is truly addicting!

I think we need to start an "I Can't Walk Past Once Upon a Toy Without Filling a Box" support group! Can't you just see it?

"Hello, I'm Maxine, and I have Mr. Potato Head issues I'm trying to work through".

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me the cost of filling a box? Are all the stores the same price?

We are going in december a week before christmas. My 2yr old loves tato, as he calls it. We plan on getting Mr. potato for him for a gift. I believe Once Apon A Toy has the biggest selection (DTD).
We're going to try to fit two small potatos with parts in a box.
They also sell a flying dumbo to put them in. He always makes a bee line to these guys every time we go into the store. Does anyone rememder how much it is to fll the box?

thanks:D

Just a few weeks ago, we did this for the second year in a row. The price is $18/box.(if I remember correctly) It used to be $16/box. We already had a Mr. Potato Head, so this time we filled our box with the new pieces....goofy hat, princess hat, Buzz Lightyear laser(to hold in hand), the safari hat, Santa hat with Mickey ears, etc. There are many new pieces that are really cute.

Once Upon A Toy store in DTD has the largest selection. There is also a Cowboy accessory kit and a Cowboy kit($10 each). Some CMs are really fussy about how the box needs to be shut with all the pieces inside.

I am a Potato Head addict too! I say this is for my 2yr old DD but really I have more fun that her playing with it.

I am so excited about getting Disney themed Mr. Potato Head parts!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one of the top things on my list of things to do on our next trip. LOL I plan to bring along 2 big potato heads that we already have, then fill the box (or maybe boxES heehee) with the parts. I saw some of the parts on The LaughingPlace Store they look SO cute!!:hyper:

while down there in July. I ended up getting 3 boxes full of potato parts (bought mr. & mrs elsewhere) plus i got the dumbo.
I think the only peice im missing is the buzz base.
also i got a few peices for the little potato head, but they don't fit on the little mr. potato head i bought from target. Does anyone know where to get one to fit, besides disney?

Mr. Potato Head was DH's favorite toy when he was young. When I told him about the Disney Potato head, he just grinned like a two year old. That's a lot of emotion for the "Vulcan." Thanks for the tip of buying the potato head elsewhere, and using the box for parts.

We just got back from Orlando yesterday (yes, we missed Charley by two hours) and Mr. Potato head was one of my favorite things. I put a box of parts together for my nephew's birthday. My children (and DH) loved using the computerized Mr. Potato Head. It's just so cute!

eeyore kelly-LMBO about your dh the "Vulcan"!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is too funny. :hyper:

poohkinandpiglet-What's the "computerized Mr. Potato Head"?

I can't wait to buy more parts-espcially the rides! I bought 2 boxes back in 2001 I think I paid $11/box.

Thank you for these tips! This is something I wanted to get DD for Christmas. :)

Mom and I gave my great nephew the Disney Potato Head for his 2nd bday. My niece told us this story the other day about it.

He went to his Mom and asked "Mommy....Tomato?"
His mom says, "You don't even like tomatoes" But, she went to the fridge and brought him out a tomato. He slapped at it, and huffed "Tomato!"
He left the room. Went to his toy box and started digging. Came across the storage box with all the Potato Head toy pieces. Picked it up, and like he'd found a long lost friend, sweetly said "Tomato!"

He likes putting the pieces in all the wrong places. He then proudly holds it up for all to see. With the biggest smile on his face, he proudly proclaims, "Tomato!"

We never had any problem with the CM's helping us make the most of our Potato Head box. One CM even asked if she could slit the plastic film, so more things could get stuffed in our box!!

We love Mr. Potato/Tomato Head::yes::

We got a box in 2002. I can't wait to get new parts and stuff another box! My dds still play with him.April
