What is a Citrus Swirl?

Hi,

This is from a blog in the Orlando Sentinel:

Oh, please say it isn't so. Mickey seems to have changed his recipe for the famed Citrus Swirl at the Sunshine Tree Terrace at the Magic Kingdom's Adventureland. I'm not sure I can go on. Melodramatic? Yes, but I loved me that Citrus Swirl.

For years, it has been a concoction of frozen orange juice swirled with soft-serve vanilla ice cream. Absolutely refreshing and delicious. But on a recent visit, it was served as a mixture of soft-serve orange-flavored sherbet and vanilla ice cream. This is not the same thing. Really. It's not.

Even more alarming, the cast member seemed to have no idea when I tried to explain what it used to be. She was unimpressed by my description of the tangy orange juice melting into the creamy ice cream.

I even tried to get her to sell me a frozen orange juice and mix in some soft-serve as a compromise, but she said she wasn't allowed to do that.

Not since they remade the Enchanted Tiki Room into the current "Under New Management" version has their been such a grievous re-do in Adventureland.

At the risk of sounding like a cranky 4-year-old who has been waiting for 50 minutes to see Buzz Lightyear: "Mommy! I want my old citrus swirl!"

Yes! We noticed that last August when we were there. Citrus Swirls were our favorite, and we were upset when served the new concoction...YUCK!!! We bought a frozen orange juice and ate it with the vanilla out of the new citrus swirl to kind of compromise (and not completely waste all that money). The person at the counter had no idea what I was talking about either and tried to tell me that there was never OJ in the citrus swirl.

Similar problem trying to get one of the spicy stuffed pretzels in Tomorrowland. They convinced us to try the cream cheese stuffed pretzel. One bite for each of us, and it went straight into the trash.

There was a big difference in food between August 2006 and August 2008, and definitely not for the better.

Bummer that they chnaged the recipie. To be fair I'll probably try the new version, but the old version was rather yummy!

Thanks guys.
Does the new one taste anything like an orange icicle pop with the cream in the middle?:goodvibes
