This is probably a really lame question to ask, but I'm courious to know. What is the meaning of this?

"Blue is the new Pink"....

I got an invitation in the mail today for a baby shower from a distant friend who is expecting in october. It's a boy. I knew she had some slight disappointment.

But seriously, what the heck does that mean?? I kinda looked at DF funny, and he didn't have a clue either. Why would you put that on an invitation? :rolleyes1

that is a little strange and kind of rude! Even if u are slightly disappointed u should not post that on ur invitation! Imagine if the kid finds that some day! Just be happy the baby is healthy! Who care what gender it is:)

As a mom who got a lot of (very much unwanted and unappreciated) sympathy from several women when I delivered my second son, I find that more than a little rude. Why insult the child on the front of the shower invitation?

I'm guessing it is just a play on the "Pink is the New black" saying that has been going around.

This was my thought too - probably has nothing to do with it NOT being a girl. I think they were just trying to be clever.

I would say it means that having a new boy is just okay as having a girl would have been.

I think they were just being cute. It' obvious that not only were they hoping for a girl, but their friends and family knew they were hoping for a girl. I think they were just making a joke about having a boy instead.

It's just a saying....brown is the new black....grey is the new black...etc. Totally harmless.

My first thought is that they have an older child that is a girl and now they are having a boy :confused3.

I don't take that as being rude at all. I think they were just trying to be cute.

I think you're reading too much into it. My friends use that expression all the time....'beer is the new wine' Thursdays are the new Fridays. I think they were just being cute:thumbsup2

I agree, and think it's cute!
