Family is arriving at Disney on May 10 for a 6 night stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We have requested a queen/bunk room set up. Looking at the Disney web site it appears all resorts are booked solid except for OKW and the Wilderness Cabins. What if when we check in all the queen/bunk rooms are gone?? There is no way my two DD's can sleep in the same bed together...it will be WWIII :confused3 and I'm not paying those prices to have someone sleep on the floor :rotfl:

Hopefully the above problem won't happen, but if it does, any suggestions?? Obviously can't request a different resort that has a day bed, or AKL with a queen/bunk set up since they are all sold out. Would you then choose to stay off site?? Aren't vacations supposed to be relaxing...this planning drives me nuts...but I wouldn't have it any other way :teeth:

I am not sure what to tell you. How old are your DDs? They can't get along for six nights? They are in Disney world after all. :earseek: I am assuming you are traveling with another adult. Maybe you could do one adult and one child per queen beds if it comes to that? I do hope all works out for you.

You would think they would get along but one is a very active sleeper, kicking and stealing sheets and snores!! The girls are a little older and I know they wouldn't want to share a bed with dear old Dad!!

Thanks for the good wishes..hope we don't have any troubles..just curious if anyone else has ever had to confront this problem..maybe parents with two kids, one boy or one girl.

Well, I would tell the girls that this is the bed situation and they need to work something out. If they choose to alternate sleeping on the floor, then that is what happens. I guess I wouldn't put up with that kind of behavior, period, and I certainly wouldn't move off site to accomodate that kind of behavior, but that is me.

I don't know, but I've read that checking in early in the day can help a little, but your room might not be ready. Good luck, I'd just tell them to deal with it, lol!

I would STRONGLY suggest that you contact the FRONT DESK of the Wilderness Lodge three days prior to your departure and make the request directly with the General Manager, Reseverations Manager or Front Desk Supervisor Cast Member. Lots of people on the boards have found that this is an effective way of "locking in" a request if you are faced with a problem like you have described.

Best of luck.

BTW.. im faced with the same dilema for my honeymoon in October. Hoping they have single King Beds at the CR when we arrive.

Last year when we stayed at the AKL we had requested the bunk beds. My DS was 12 and DD 9 and they needed their own beds. We got there late in the day, after 6pm and got a room with the bunk beds. There was no problem with it. But don't forget that Disney claims that all your wishes for the rooms are just 'requests'. They will not guarantee much of anything. I don't know what we would have done if we had not gotten the bunk beds, but I think our chances were improved by the kids ages and the fact that one is a boy and one is a girl. Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks again for the great suggestions, especially about calling the WL 3 days out and explaining the situation. Don't get me wrong, the kids don't fight or scream or whatever..it is just that sleep is disturbed which of course can affect the Commando Touring the following day :rotfl:

The girls are really looking forward to having a bunk bed, they've never been in one before so this is more Disney Magic for them. I'm sure if its not meant to be then sharing a bed will be an adventure too...anything is cool as long as we're at Disney!! ::MickeyMo

Bunk Beds are a request and can not be guaranteed. If one is not available when you check in then you will be given a room with 2 queen beds. This is a highly requested room at WL, especially for families with older children of the opposite sex. Priority to opposite sex siblings would be given over 2 younger girls.

They might be so tired, sharing a queen bed will be no problem.

OMGoodness!
I would call both 7 and 3 and maybe even the night before so they understand that you really need this room & why...
Good luck!

I have always wondered about this kind of thing: If the hotel knows how many bunk bed rooms they have, why can't they guarantee me one? :confused3

I know our room is a guarenteed bunk bed room because there are 5 of us and we are paying a LOT extra for that 5th person.

Travelers staying extra nights, switching rooms, you name it.

Now, if they made you pay extra for the room, like a king bed room or preferred room at CBR, then they would have to give it to you!

FYI - AKL has more rooms than WL, and therefore, more bunkbed rooms....for what that is worth.

Unless you are getting a deluxe room there are not any rooms at WL that sleep 5 unless one is under 3 years of age. I hope you have not been given incorrect info. Deluxe rooms do not have bunk beds.

When you call the resort, you may or may not actually get the WL. You might get a call center in Topeka, KS. They will say they are the WL, though. Make sure you have your request on your reservation. WL was the first resort to request that guests not fax requests to the hotel since they just tossed them in the garbage.

I respect your situation but just a reminder that most of the other people requesting a bunk bed have a specific reason for doing so also and think their reason is just as valid. Like another poster said-many would be opposite gender children or any other variety of reasons. The resorts hear these reasons every day and can only do so much about it. So, I think you need to be prepared to not get your request.

Also, if you move off-site wouldn't you still have to pay for the WL reservation because you didn't cancel in time?

I hope it works out for you.
