What if we have tickets for airtran and then SW takes over everything, what would happen to our tickets? We will be traveling in August of 2012, Airtran flys out of our airport, but not SW and we aren't sure if they will continue service once the sale is completed.

After the merger, if SW decides not to fly out of your airport they will refund your ticket.

Most likely they will stop releasing AirTran flights on their schedule as of a certain date rather than try to change flights with tickets already sold. They operate so differently (seat assignments), it would be difficult to change flights with tickets already sold.

By the way, the sale was completed 5-2-11.

I know the "sale" was completed, guess I should have said transition.

True! Southwest is stopping all Air Tran flights out of DFW as of Nov 22nd. You can only buy Air Tran tickets through Nov 21st. You can buy a ticket to fly out of Dallas for Nov 21st, but can't get back home on the 22nd.

I am hoping they keep service at Dayton Ohio, it is close to home and a smaller airport. Right now Southwest does not have service there, just airtran, the closest airport is 2-3 hours away
