What if you're not interested in Star Wars weekend?

I'm looking for others who have been to MGM on Star Wars weekend, specifically, those who had no interest in the activities.

Is MGM a place to be avoided on a Star Wars Saturday if DH and I aren't interested in the activities? Will it be too crazy? Our last day is May 23 (a Saturday) and we probably won't go to the MK (too busy). Don't want to end my vacation at AK, so I'm looking at MGM or EPCOT.

Just looking for experiences with how bad the attraction lines will be on those Saturdays.

Thanks!

Truthfully, I went last year. Unless you ARE a big Star Wars fan, and have planned for the special events, you probably won't notice a big difference. Except perhaps a few guests dressed a little weird. They may also add some extra characters to the parade. You will notice people standing in queues for meet and greets and some special merchandise, but little overall impact for a visitor that is not interested in Star Wars. We were there the last day of the event...so it may be a little more noticable earlier into the event.

I've been during the Star Wars weekend, and I agree with Chuck. The Star Wars weekend doesn't have as big of an impact on attendance as some of the other events. The only attraction where it might make a difference at is on Star Tours--sometimes they have a Star Tours marathon, and use one of the cars exclusively for the folks participating in the marathon.

Remember that Saturday is typically an early entry day at MGM, so that will likely increase attendance at MGM.

Like the others said it isn't bad! I was there last June for 2 of the weekends and yes there are alot of people, but they seem to be more intrested in the character and the Star Wars base shows.

Even with this going on we were able to get on Star Tours with no more than a 10 minute wait.

We went one trip, not knowing it was Star Wars weekend. We saw things going on, but it wasn't a huge impact. We weren't going on the bigger rides because our kids were toddlers soI can't really say too much about the tlines, but still, we had a great time without feeling very crowded.

Hope that helps!

If you can avoid SWW and go to MGM another day then do that. But if you cant it's not terrible. Crowd levels will be higher generally, but they will be concentrated around SWW specific events, such as Star Tours, parade, autograph sessions, etc. Crowds at other attractions will be close to normal for that time of the year.
