outgrown the child's menu?

The next time we visit, our oldest will be 10 (closer to 11), so technically too old to order off the children's menu (3-9). Now take for example dinner at the Sci-Fi restaurant (one of the places we have always missed but want to try this time). I looked at the dinner menu and there really is nothing she would like (salmon, a reuben, ribs...no way!). She would really prefer mac and cheese or a hot dog. Can she still order off the child's menu or will they make her a bigger portion of mac and cheese and charge a higher price?

Really not trying to start a debate here, but just wondering what others have done who have kids who, by Disney standards are adult eaters, but really still just eat like little kids.

Thanks!

Whenever I have a question like that, I call Disney. So... if you call the Reservations #, you will be able to get an answer. Last year, my sister made reservations for her family and her son just turned 10. As she spoke to the person on the other end, they set her son up with a child's plan...Also, if you are making reservations now for your room and food plan, technically the child is still 9.

My daughter is very picky, even at amost 19. And, there are times when the adult menu is just too much food. Both of us have ordered off the children's menu. One time, all I wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich, which was on the kids menu at Sci Fi...no problem.

I will tell you what the CM at Le Cellier told my professor when we had a dinner there after our presentation at a conference. (She wanted the chocolate mousse which is the kids' desert there)
At Disney, everyone is a kid. :)

Also, at Garden Grill, I always have them bring out some mac-n-cheese since I tend to be iffy on mashed potatoes. Never had a problem.

DD12 is a very picky eater - she had no problem ordering off the children's menu last year at the TS restaurants - the only place it was an issue was the buffets - and it really wasn't a problem - she was just charged the adult price no matter what she ate. Luckily we are on the free dining this year so the buffets won't matter.

My DD (24) still orders off the child's menu.
Never a problem.

This is off topic... but holy smokes, 47 thousand posts! You go!

At some of the restraunts, you can order off the kids menu but you will be charged a little more and get a little more food.

DS14 sometimes orders off the childrens menu - never had a problem

DD is 15 and still orders the "space mush" (mac-n-cheese) at the Sci-Fi. I've never had a problem at WDW with an older kid ordering off the kid's menu. DD is like me--we don't like to eat a lot of food all at once--we eat about 8 little meals per day. :teeth:

FYI The SCI FI has a burger on the menu for lunch but not dinner. We have always been able to order the burger for dinner anyway.

We went in Jan 06 and my DD just turned 13. We did not do the DDP. She ate off the kids menu without a problem. I was really friendly ( a strange trait I pick up whenever I get to WDW :confused3 :rotfl: ) and just asked the server - they all said no problem. When we ate at Cindy's castle for dinner (begore the BIG change over ) the server let her get the chicken strips and asked if she wanted him to put an extra one on the plate. I think the majority of the CM really don't care HTH and have a great time
