What if you paid for the dining plan?

So, what if you have your trip paid in full and you paid for the dining plan and then they come out with free dining for your dates. Does Disney reimburse you for the money you have paid? Do you have to make new reservations and start all over again? Just wondering if I should drop the dining plan in case FD comes out for our dates in December. I know that I can always add it back before we go. Has anyone had this happen to them?

You can have reservations whether or not you have the dining plan, so that's not an issue. If you make reservations and then drop your dining plan, you still have reservations.

Now, when I booked, I added on the DDP. A few months later free dining came out for my dates, so I called and they changed me over to free dining (and I paid to upgrade to DxDP). Now, I had a balance on my account at that time, I didn't need to get a refund, but my impression is that any refunds are done back to the method of payment. So if you paid via credit card, they would credit the cost of your dining plan back to your credit card.

But you can definitely book and then call and get the free dining if/when it is announced.

If you are already booked with the dining plan you need to call and see if there are ANY rooms at your resort choice and your dates that are available on the Free Dining Promotion.They will NOT just adjust your ressie.ALSO..each promotion/discount like Free dining, has only a certain number of rooms eligible per resort,room cateory and dates.It is quite possible( has happened to me) that when you try to get free dining, that it might not be available at your resort choice .

i added the ddp when i booked.
my plan is to pay everything except the DDP cost asap....holding off on the final payment until close to the 45 day point
if an FD offer comes out for my dates BONUS!, if not i will just make the final payment at/around the 45 days.

(((because i heard that it can take up to 2 months for reimbursemnts to show up on your credit card)))

A few years ago I booked through AAA and had everything paid including dining plan. I received a free dining pin. Disney sent me a reimbursement check through Aaa.
