What if you have to call 911???

Again, all great information. I feel well armed and much more comfortable than before I started this thread.
As you may be able to tell, I'm kind of a worrier, I have to think of each and every problem and solve it (in my head) before it happens.
So, one more question. If I needed to call 911 from the room, do you dial exactly "911" or do you need to press, say "9" for an outside line first?
Grrrr, what more can my head think of to worry about :headache:
you can just call 911 no need to press any other number first.

there is a boton on the phone that you can press to dial 911 I would just press that botton

1) We have lots of "911" calls.
2) Both emergencies and perceived emergencies.
3) Have a CAST MEMBER call "911".
. . . just let the CM know there is a medical problem
. . . you can also ask the CM to call for an "Alpha Unit" (the WDW code for EMS)

4) The Reedy Creek EMS will appear almost magically.
5) They are really good !!!
6) If YOU call "911" it adds time for the operator to transfer the call to RCIP (Reedy Creek Improvement District).

NOTE: If you call "911" from any WDW telephone "land line" (Resort or Park), it goes directly to RCIP EMS.

I had a severe allergic reaction and my friend and I went to the front desk (epi pen in hand). The CM told me for ME TO RETURN TO THE ROOM AND CALL 911.

YES! a WDW security guy magically appeared followed quickly by Reedy Creek EMS and YES they were FABULOUS.

When I made the call the EMS dispatch SENT THE UNIT then proceeded to ask me very relevant questions to help EMS once they arrived.

Perfect. Feeling so much more relieved than prior to starting this post.
Once again, I love my Dis friends...

An FYI if you call them from GFV they will be there extremely quick since the firehouse is just behind the MK.

Well that's good to know.
Thank you and hoping that now that I have all the info I won't really have to use it.

Hi, you may remember me from a previous post where I asked about traveling to WDW with a friend who has some disabilities. To those of you who took the time to answer, thank you again, your advice and information have been very helpful.
So on to my next concern.....we will be staying at the Grand Floridian Villas. I've stayed there before and know that there is a CM at the check in desk from about 8a.m. until sometime in the evening.
I'm worried, thinking about what if, God forbid, I would have to call 911 if something happened to my friend. For those of you who didn't see my other post, she has cardiac problems, is a diabetic, and sometimes has fainted/passed out due to a TIA or inner ear problems which make her dizzy. I know I wouldn't be the first person to have to call 911 from the Villas, but my concern is that you can't gain access to the Villa buildings without a MB or key card. If there is no staff in the lobby (if it is after hours) can EMS get in? I'm sure they can but just need to be reassured.

Also, would I just call 911 and handle it on my own or is there some way to notify a Disney cast member who could also be of assistance? I only ask this because as I mentioned before, the GF Villas are not like the hotel. There is no one there, staff wise, from sometime in the evening until the morning.

I certainly hope none of you have had first hand experience in having to call 911 but just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on how this would work.

Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'm worrying too much but I guess better to be prepared than not. :o

We have had to for my child before. Actually I called the front desk and they took care of everything. He was transferred from celebration to childrens, and disney paid for our taxi after we came back. They where more than accommodating and helpful!

Thank you ember. So sorry that you had that experience but I do thank you for the information.
