I am going during Spring break for 5 nights. I am not sure where we will be what day until about a week ahead of time.

Going with DD high school band and chaperoning with DH.

If you aren't able to use your TS credits because there are no ADR's left can you convert that to CS credits?

Has anyone done this

Not officially. There was a conversion offered (from TS to CS, one-for-one, with some extra snacks and a lanyard thrown in) during the free dining promotion, late August through early October, but it has been discontinued. However, previous to that offer, some (but not all) of the hotel front desks were willing to convert TS into CS (one-for-one, no snacks, no lanyard, and no converting them the other way, even if the credits were converted earlier in the week) on a by-request basis. Not everyone who asked received a positive response to that request, but many did. It surely is worth a try.

Would it be possible for you to arrange your schedule to use a TS for breakfast or lunch?

If you are flexible you should be able to ADRs for each day. I always make them ahead of time, but change them as we go nd have never had a problem getting in somewhere acceptable. Last trip, I walked up to WCC and asked if they had room for 6 that night. They said come right in. We decided the kids wouldn't enjoy the food at O'hana, and ended up at Kona which turned out to be one our best meals of the trip.

When we are Pop in October a man in front of us line had a full tray of sandwiches, drinks, desserts etc and said he had (can't remember exactly), 3 CS, a couple of TS credits as well as some snacks. The CM at the till didn't blink an eye and rang everything through. We didn't try it, but I did see it done. On our last day we bought sandwiches etc with our leftover credits to eat the next day. Luckily for us we went back to our room and they had put a fridge in it! I guess for the people checking in the next day or else we would just have iced the sandwiches. The turkey/brie/cranberry were fab!

Official exceptions were made during the 2006 free dining period regarding exchanging credits, because many Guests were unable to get table service reservations (by not knowing to plan in advance - not an issue with DISers ;))

This does NOT mean the same exceptions/exchanges can be made at other times of the year.

Kid's fell asleep last night at Ohana's and was not charged for 2 TS credit.
Had to leave 6:30am the next morning for an early flight. Went to All star Music food court 10:30pm that night and order 2 ham sandwiches, 2 OJ's and 2 mickey rice crispy bars. Ice them in the sink and we had lunch for the plane the next day. Just had to tell the cashier at the food court you were using TS credits because she would ring them up differently.

Not sure about table service, but we just got back and had 2 counter service remaining and were able to exchange them for 4 snacks each. We still left with 3 snacks left over (our van arrived early).

I just our left over counter service credits to buy lunch for a family at Earl of Sandwich. I stayed with them while they ordered until their lunch was made and the credits were taken off of my card (room key).

Just don't give your room key to a stranger; most room keys come with charging rights and that could be a BIG problem.

The Dining Plan rules prohibit this. The Dining Plan credits you're provided are non-transferable.

This is one of those subjects that the moderators have asked that we just outline the Dining Plan rules and not discuss further:

Any questions regarding the use of the plan that are not answered specifically in the WDW Dining Brochure cannot be accurately answered on these boards and should be addressed to WDW Dining. Interpretation of the rules has led to a tremendous amount of debate on these boards. To avoid further conflict, we will close any threads that ask for interpretation of the rules and encourage the poster to contact WDW Dining.
