What if we become members.........

We are going on the Disney Cruise in April and have been thinking of joining on the cruise. As I was reading through all these informative posts, I noticed some people have or are going to convert their already booked WDW resorts from cash to points. If we became members now, would we be able to convert our cruise to points? Would we have to cancel our cruise then rebook? Thanks in advance for your help!

Normally you would have to cancel the cruise and rebook with points but maybe a vacation guide could work some magic for you.
