What if there never was Walt Disney... I can only wonder...

Forgive me for this thread, which is nothing more than a moment of reflection on my part on what our lives, our vacations and our families would be like if Mr. Walt Disney was never born.

But it merits thought, doesn't it? This man - one man - revolutionalized what family entertainment and vacations are all about. Just consider if he didn't ever exist... seriously.

No Disneyland. No DisneyWorld. Heck, no 'mouse' to begin with.

All the world loves Mickey. My fondest memories of a childhood 35 years gone by are of Disneyland. Pirates of the Caribbean was REAL when I was 9. It was real once again when I was 35 and my son was 9. Same thing for the Haunted House. Absolutely magical entertainment...

Then came DisneyWorld Florida, and Disney Cruise Lines. All the joy and wonderment came back again and brought immeasurable joy to my family.
Disney has just been such a magical part of us, I can't imagine life without it!!!

Am I the only one who sees Walt Disney as truly THAT important in the quality of our families lives?? :)

This is one of the best descriptions I've ever read of Walt Disney:

"He was a hopelessly idealistic dreamer--but he had the courage to turn those dreams into reality for the rest of us. He was a giver, who loved to give other people pleasure and joy. He represented America all over the world in a way that no one else ever has or ever could. Wherever he went, people loved him."

What a guy!

I thought I was the only one who truly loved Walt Disney. Everyone love Mickey, Winnie and all the characters but I can say I love Walt.

I am not a pin collector but I do collect pins with Walt Disney on them and wear them in honor of his birthday every year on December 5th.

It feels good just to share my feelings about Walt.:Pinkbounc

Good to know that I'm not the only one! I actually get teary eyed everytime I hear him say, "To all who come to this happy place, welcome!"... Oh for god's sake... here I go again!

Beano- you are the man....again!
This is EXACTLY how we feel.

I walk around WDW and always find time to look up and say thanks. I don't know what the world would be like without Disney.
It is more than movies, theme parks, and a cruise line. It is a way of life for us.
I get tears in my eyes when I watch things like Fantasy in the Sky, Fantasmic, and Illuminations. It amazes me how much I am moved by Disney.

Life without it? Not imaginable. We are truly blessed in this life to have the magic and spirit of such an incredible dreamer. It all comes back to Walt's vision and dream....the dream of a daddy who wanted somewhere to take his daughters where they could have fun together... the dream of a man who loved art....a man who lived his dream and passed it on to the world.
We sure are lucky he followed his heart.

thanks Walt!
