What if something happens to the yellow tag?

What happens if the yellow tag falls off or is torn off? What can Disney do to help me in that situation?

The tag is just as secure as the airline tag. Disney checks the unclaimed luggage area, will find your name on the DME list and will ship it to your resort. There might be a short delay. You tell the DME CM how many bags you checked and they'll look for the missing bag(s).

If the airline tag and the DME tags comes off the airline will look to the extra tag you put on the bag. You might put your cell number on the tag.

How can I tell the DME CM? I could be at the resort for hours before I begin to worry about my luggage. I assume I can tell the front desk, and they'll contact their people at the airport.

When you get off the plane you go to the DME welcome desk on level one. When you check in the CM will scan your voucher and ask how many bags you checked. I don't know how much checking they do if you tell them you checked 4 bags and only 3 show up but I know DME employees check the unclaimed luggage room at MCO and look up the names on the airline tags for guests who don't use the tags. If your yellow tag comes off there is a good chance your bags will be delivered before you even have a chance to make an inquiry.

It would take a fair amount of pulling and ripping to get that tag off. It's the same type tag the airlines put on at the airport. I had to almost cut mine off with scissors! I wouldn't worry too much. I would put my cell phone numer/resort name on the 'regular' luggage tags so that if it did get misplaced, they would know where it should end up, and a phone number to call. I do that for every trip....but have never had an issue where it was needed.
