What if I have an extra person join us?

Hello!

I am currently booked at CR, but in the interest of saving money (it's just hard for me to pay that much money for a room) I was thinking about getting an OKW studio. They only sleep 4, which is what I have right now (me and 3 kids) HOWEVER, my mom may wind up joining us, but not sure if she will. Would I be allowed to add her to our room? I don't want to do anything "illegal" but just curious if they really care since it's not a package situation.

TIA!

do to fire codes she can't stay with you unless one of the kids is under 3

Studio occupancies are 4 + infant and no more. It doesn't matter whether you're booking through Disney or DVC, cash or points.

You might want to check into the possibility of renting a reservation from a DVC owner, rather than directly from Disney at very high prices.

The DIS DVC Rent/Trade board is one very good place to start. You have to be logged into the DIS to be able to access the R/T board. Renting a reservation may make a one-bedroom, or even a two-bedroom affordable.

Also, I assume you are vacationing in Dec 2013. If so, be advised that is the busiest time of the year for DVC and availability for anything DVC will be very limited...if not impossible.

With five you'd need an OKW one bedroom villa. A hotel room at the Contemporary will sleep five. Two queen beds and one day bed. See if you can get a wing room which should be a bit less than a tower room.

Thank you! I figured that it wasn't allowed, but I thought I remembered people talking about having extras in DVC villas so I thought I'd check. I am in a garden wing room now Nov 30-Dec 6. It's over 400 a night right now, hoping they will do a room discount, but since I have the money set aside maybe it worth it to Deluxe once. I just am afraid it won't be worth the extra money since we will mainly be at the parks. However, I am curious what the "hub hub" about deluxe is :rolleyes1

Some DVCs will allow a fifth person without bedding, but that's one-bedrooms not studios.

Why not book a family suite at AOA or Allstar Music? They sleep 6 and would be cheaper than staying at the CR or the cost of booking OKW through Disney.

Too bad you didn't come here earlier and learn about renting from a member. At this point, those dates are unavailable, but it would have saved you a bundle even if you had gotten a 1 bedroom that sleeps 5. At this point, I have to agree the family Suites might be your best bet.

I know! I am going to do it next time 11 months in advance :)
