What if I hate the value resort

If this is the case, maybe a Disney vacation isn't a good option for you regardless of what hotel you sleep at.

I don't agree with this. We don't like loud and crowded either, but we still go to WDW multiple times a year. We simply adjust our resort, room and touring plans to avoid loud and crowded. Even in WDW, it can be done!! :) That being said, we wouldn't stay in an All-Star Resort for this very reason. The risk of loud and crowded is much bigger there than at other resorts, IMHO.

If I'm worried I'm going to hate somewhere I may be staying I book elsewhere. I wouldn't chance it. The values aren't for us due to double beds and no pool slides so we stay elsewhere. I think you should spend your money where you will enjoy it most.

We almost booked at AoA last year (and ended up booking GF CL, but that another story). My wife recently discovered that *all* value and moderate resorts have windows facing the corridor. The day she discovered that, she told me the instant I woke up that we could do only deluxes due to that stupid architecture choice.

Long story short, every resorts is not everyone's best resort. If you believe your first pick is not your favorite resort, go somewhere else. WDW has enough on-site and off-site hotels to fit both your child and yours needs!

AoA has interior corridors. If you ever decide to give it a try.

Nothing about a value hotel in Disney appeals to me. To each their own. I know a few people who have stayed in them and were not happy.

I had only stayed at moderates and deluxes until a solo trip in 2012. The only resort with AP rates available at the time was All Star Sports so I took a chance. Even in early June it was quiet and I was upgraded from a standard room to preferred in Surf's Up. It turned out to be a nice stay with excellent bus transportation and helpful CMs. I was on the top floor looking over the pool. While I probably wouldn't stay there again with my fussy husband etc. I would definitely choose it again if going solo or trying to save money.
