I am considering purchasing 6 round trip tickets on ATA to Cancun from Chicago for a trip in December. They have an amazing price!!!! I believe they are in bankruptcy right now. My huge concern is that they will go out of business and I will lose the value of the tickets. Does anyone know if there is any type of trip insurance I can purchase in the event that this does occur? Any insight would be most appreciated!!!!

many years ago we had tickets on Baniff and they went out of business before we left. We were able to file a dispute with our credit card company and get our money back.Luckly We had a paper ticket because we did have to send them the tickets, but this was also before the e-ticket. You might call your credit card company and see what they say.

Steer clear of ATA. They will not be flying out of Chicago anymore anyhow. Southwest is taking over ATA's flights. ATA's communication really stinks right now - you can plan to spend 30-45 mins waiting time on the phone with them. Who needs the hassle? I have been through the ringer with them and have been lied to by them and am done with them. I'm not the only one who feels this way either. I was thrilled when I was able to dump them for a full refund for an upcoming flight.
