To take pin trading on to it's next step... How would you and what would you change? What do you miss that they (Disney) does not do anymore? It seems to me Disney has no focus on the pins. And I can see why. Let's face it Disney parks were designed to be just that Theme parks. I would be willing to bet that they make any where from 90 to 95% more on the core pins than the LE's. Think about this. If less than 5% of the people that come in to a park each day buy just one pin... Well that is thousands of pins a day. So it stands to reason that they make the main push for "Core" pins. As that is were the money is. But collectors like the hard to get and exotic pins. So that leaves us with 5 to 10% of the pins as LE's and out of that less than 20% of those are sought after pins. What would you do to change or improve 'Pin Trading"?
I will pass these thoughts along to a few people when I go to WDW in a week....
As for me...
I would stop releasing so many high LE's and make the ones they do release a little lower edition size. It would be nice to see a few pins like Angery Donald, Flubber and the such again.
How about a POM set that you could sign up for... You know buy the first one and be sure you were going to get the last one as well. This would be more for the collectors than traders.. Follow suit to the DCl and maybe have an le of 750 or less... Every Month
NUMBER the low le's. And treat them like collectables.
Train the CM's a little better so that they are al on the same page. Maybe not those that are working attractions and are just wearing the lanyard but the ones who sell and work with the pins daily...
Release a Low LE only at one place and use a fast pass type system to keep track of who bought theirs already... Everyone has a ticket if it is inside the park or a cast id...
How about you? Any thoughts.
