I just want to pass along this info for all of you out there...

If you have given your ME info to DVC people BUT you are still waitlisted for part your trip, IF/WHEN your waitlist goes through make sure to check that your ME information has been updated.

Ours was not updated and our ME voucher (along with our boarding passes I assume) went to the original booked resort.

It isn't a huge deal because we can still get the ME voucher printed at the concierge desk and the airline check in desk at the resort would still print us the boarding passes. But it's just an extra time to line up at the concierge desk to get it redone.

So just an FYI...

DME requests through MS are passed on to DME. MS is the middle man and they sometime make mistakes reporting your info to DME and as pointed out, they do not update changes to your travel plans.

You can call DME directly to update or verify your reservation, 866 599-0951.

It's honestly up to you to tell member services to contact DME or contact DME yourself if there are reservation changes.

when our waitlist for BLT came through last week(we leave on 5/14)..ms told me to cross out AK on our luggage tags and write BLT...she said they scan the barcode and the information will show we are now at BLT....

Which is totally fine, it's just in the so many years I've been to WDW I never encountered this problem. I guess I was lucky to never had to waitlist until the last minute before.
I wasn't blaming MS, I just want to let other DVC-ers know in case they didn't (like us).

Same with us, ME is not going to prohibit you from going to your new resort, just tell them at the ME desk that your waitlist came through and cross off the resort name and write it with a sharpie for the new resort. This is especially helpful for those last minute waitlist!

Yes the voucher seems more a formality. We had a flight canceled once (was only canceled after we got to MCO) and ME took us back (we were able to book a couple of extra nights with our points) and then back to MCO without any hassle at all. We did not have checked bags, which made things easier in this case.

I sorta agree with you. However, on this recent trip we had a couple passengers without vouchers going back to the airport and the driver took them anyways. By the last pick up resort, the bus was totally full.
I can't imagine if there was extra people that had to be turned away because of these couple people.

The DME database has to have your correct info or you COULD have problems.

DME is run by a private contractor, (Mears/Bags) not Disney and your voucher being scanned is proof to Disney that you used DME, that's how they get paid for your bus ride. Your luggage getting scanned is how they get paid for handling your luggage and how the tip is paid for taking your luggage to your room. That's why you don't need to be in your room when DME luggage is delivered.

You don't even need ME reservations. I just showed up at the counter, they looked up my name and sent us to get in line. They gave me a card to call to set up my return to the airport. I called a few days before we left and our last morning our tickets were on the door. Total time waisted-about 2 min to call and set up the return trip when I was in my room anyways.

Now if your vouchers are wrong you might want to collect your own luggage as I would assume your tags are coded for the same resort as your vouchers.

The fact that you didn't need a DME reservation isn't the way that the program is set up and it could cause you and others problems and a longer line at the DME check in counter. If you have a voucher, you can bypass the counter and head for the check in podium. If you don't have a voucher or reservation, you have to wait in line at the DME counter.
