What I don't understand about the new tickets

Example:

If we get a 5 day basic pass, I realize that it is only good for one park on each day, but does it matter which park? For instance, can you go to MK all five days if you want or do you have to go to each of the four parks and then you have an extra day? Or, go to MK twice, MGM twice and Epcot once? With that extra day ticket, can you use it to skip the parks and go to Pleasure Island or Blizzard Beach instead? I could not find any individual ticket prices for those two places. Does anyone know what the cost of those two places is if purchased individually? All I could find was the "Plus" option added on to the basic pass.
I am so confused! I liked the old way better.

the basic tix allows you to go to any one park you want to all day but no other parks that same day...all 5 days at MK if you want....you can buy passes to water park separately, but I think it is cheaper to by the hopper if you want to go to a water park and then have the ability to hop between parks if you want during the day

This way really is better for the consumer. I love being able to buy park passes for longer than 4 days with no plus features. So, to answer your questions...you can go to whatever park, on whatever day you wish. You can do all days at MK or 2 days at MK and 3 days at Epcot. Doesn't matter. You just can't hop from park to park each day.

As far as Pleasure Island and Blizzard Beach go...they are considered pluses. If you price them out by themselves it would be about $22 for PI and about $35 for BB. You need to figure out how often you would want to visit those spots. Then figure out if adding the plus feature is worth if for your family.

Yes, you could go to MK all 5 days if you wanted to. You can not use your days on a base MYW ticket for PI/BB unless you have the plus option.

I believe a 1 day waterpark ticket is in the $35 range and that a 1 day PI ticket is in the $20 range.

At first, I thought the new My Way tickets were really consumer friendly. But now that I'm in the middle of planning, decisions about what tickets to purchase are really difficult. Paying $35 extra per person to hop, seems a bit much to us. We do hop, but only occassionally and usually for a restaurant choice. The 7 day base ticket is by far the best bargaing. But 5 + on a 7 day ticket seems extreme when you are only allowed to purchase a maximum 8 day package. Unless you went to PI every night, you'd never use all those + options...and now you can't even give the extra plusses away with the new finger scan. Our next trip is 2 adults, 8 days Oct 15-23. We really want to take advantage of the new dining option, but it's only allowed with a package. And with a package, you cannot apply discount room codes. All this "my way" stuff sure is restricting! MY WAY? I don't think so....

Thank you for the pricing, although I cannot find them listed anywhere. Park hopping is nice, but you can really only do so much in a day.

There are no codes for the time period we want to go, so the package is our best option and the food portion isn't that bad a deal (assuming that it includes 1 table-service meal including appetizer, entrie, dessert, non-alcoholic beverage and gratuity
1 counter-service meal including entrie and non-alcoholic beverage
1 snack including either ice cream, cookie, popcorn or a non-alcoholic beverage per day of your stay per person?

Well, dining plans were never available with room only...always with a package. Why not get an AP, use it for room rate discounts, and then be able to buy a Disney Dining Experience card for $50 which will save you 20% at a lot more spots than the package dining plan? You could get just one AP and the regular park pass for the other adult.

I did some figuring and it actually makes sense to add the Plus package, but not the park hop. It was only $35 more per person.

As for the meal plan...does anyone know when the meal plans starts? If we have reservations for 5 nights (they give you a 6 day ticket pass), does the food option start on day of arrival and end on day of departure (even if you don't leave until that evening) like the passes do? It would be $30 per person per day for food. Does not include breakfast, but not a bad deal...is it?

Here's a quote from the WDW brochure: " The Disney Dining Plan includes one (1) Counter Service Meal, one (1) Snack, and one (1) Table Service Meal per person, per night of your package stay for everyone over ages 3+. For example, a part of 4 staying for 5 nights would receive 20 Counter Service Meals, 20 Snacks, and 20 Table Service meals to use during their package stay."

You are a wealth of information!

There are only two of us. So, if we are staying only 3 nights (Monday, Tuesday and Wed.), we would receive (6) Counter Service Meals, (6) Snacks, and one (6) Table Service Meals...correct? Although with the 3 nights, we get a 4 day pass, the meals are only given for 3 nights.

Example:
If we fly in on a Monday and arrive around 12:00 noon, we would eat lunch at the airport. We would go to the park and could use our (2) Table meals that night.
Tuesday - Use (2) Counter, (2) Snacks and (2) Table meals.
Wednesday - Use (2) Counter, (2) Snacks and (2) Table meals.
Thursday - Use (2) Counter and (2) Snacks and then we would leave to get to the airport around 7:00 (eat dinner at airpoirt). Disney stores luggage for us won't they?

No, it is like having 5 one day one park tickets. You may use them in any order and repeat any parks that you like. You do not have to use one day for each park, etc.

I know that change isn't easy, but these tickets really will give guests the best choice for their vacation, and you won't have to pay for what you don't need, like when you wanted a 6 or 7 day hopper before, you had no choice but to get the plusses and pay for them, because there were no tickets offered in that configuration. Also, if you wanted to purchase a 1 day PH, it didn't exist.

I think once folks get used to these tickets they will be much better for everyone!

Yes, that works. Our trip is for 8 days and we will basically following your same plan.

I told the man that I don't even know if we are actually going or not to the park, but just in case, our ticket is already on our key card. The CM said that my ticket will not expire. I'm wondering if I can upgrade it to a 3 day parkhopper w/ no expiration? Do you think I can do this?

Oh no! I hope not! I told the CM that we just came from the cruise and that my body is still rocking/swaying and not even sure if we are even going to make it to the park that day. That would be awfull if the info he gave me is incorrect. I have the receipt for the hotel and ticket purchase. I hope they can find out that the ticket is not used. Why would any CM sell me something like that if the ticket will no longer be good if not used during our stay and him knowing that we may not go to the park? Sorry for rambling here.

I'm not sure when you stayed, but the information the CM gave you was probably correct at the time. The expiration was announced when they made the press releases about the Magic Your Way tickets.

Perhaps if you bought a ticket before a certain date, they will still be good, however if you bought one after that date it wouldn't be. We bought tickets once that never expired, but we never used them and then lost them. I would be upset if I had one and found out it was not usuable anymore.

What I read was that one day tickets purchased in December 2004 expired in early January 2005 (I don'tr emembe the exact dates)

Or if the one day ticket did expire, you might get it reinstated for immediate use by telling a sob story at Guest Relations.

Keep the old one day pass separate, it has much less than $60. (cost of a new one day pass) if traded up.

While an old ticket with just one day left might buy the fifth and the sixth and the seventh days of a 7 day ticket tomorrow, you might be in town for a yet future trip for just a day and won't have that single admission to use and will have to shell out the full $60. or more then admission to get into the park.

Plan your trips assuming the one day remaining did not exist. If you misjudged and have to buy another day, this is another good use for the old one day ticket.

I called Disney and gave me the # to Ticket Services. They are closed now, will have to call tomorrow. I asked the lady if knew the answer to the question and she said that he is correct, but to double check is to call the # she gave me.
