OK, Now I don't know what to do. We are arriving the day before our cruise and were planning to stay at the Radisson at the Port, but after reading some other threads, I'm thinking of going to a Disney hotel instead. We were using the Radisson because it was so close to the port and we want to get there early.

Which hotel is good for chillin' by the pool for a day?

Also, how early would we need to leave the Disney hotel to get to the port by 10:30?

We stayed at the Radisson before our cruise and thought it was fine. Its not Disney but it was nice. The kids enjoyed the pool and being close to the port was great.

If you decide to stay at an airport hotel rather than one at WDW, I highly recommend using Priceline. You can bid the highest star level and get one (usually the Marriott) for $25 to $28. We do this all the time and use the free shuttle from the airport, then take Happy Limo in the morning. We've never used the pool, but they do have one (I imagine most, if not all, of the top star level ones do). They are within walking distance of many restaurants too.

We are thinking of staying at a Disney hotel, to get the whole Disney experience.

I don't think we would go to a park for the day, but I would love to walk around the marketplace and maybe grab dinner there.

I talked to DH and we are thinking about Port Orleans French Quarter. We've never been there before and this would be a nice way to check it out for future trips.

Port Orleans is a very nice resort... it has a nice pool area, and a large food court area.. the best thing about it is the boat service to Downtown Disney.

French Quarter is currently closed for major rehab, but since your cruise seems to be far enough off, it should be reopen by then, and everything would be nice and new!

It would probably be more $$ then the Radisson, but if you are looking for more Disney experience and easy access to Downtown Disney, Port Orleans is the way to go. If French Quarter is still down for rehab, the other half of Port Orleans (Riverside) is currently open.

Thanks, I just found out POFQ was closed. I hope it is open by then, but POR would be good to. It is only $50.00 more than what we were going to spend. :)
