Hey everyone,
I have a flight that will land at 1 am in the airport and I dont feel like going to the dolphin to pay so much money for just a few hrs- So what are my options? Can I hang out in the airport till light out so I can then take the mears shuttle to my resort? Or do I book a dirt cheap hotel close by? Any Help is greatly apprecited- if you us priceline what hotel did u get and how close was it to the airport??

THANKS

There is a hotel in the airport (a Hyatt) but I'm sure it's not cheap. There are tons of hotels w/in 1 mile of the airport, and most have complimetary shuttle transportation to/from the airport and the hotel. Just to name a few - La Quinta, Courtyard, Marriott, Fairfield Inn, Econo Lodge, Country Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Select, Best Western. Never used priceline, so can't help there - sorry.

Hi,

The closest Hotel to MCO is the Hyatt MCO which is actually inside the airport. ( Up the escalators from the main hall to Registration)

McCoy's bar & Grill is good value for money there.

There is also a Hilton Garden Inn within a mile of the aiport ( free shuttle I think)

Regards

There are a cluster of hotels about a mile N of the airport. People seem to get 3* hotels for $35-45. I got Sheraton Suites for $45.

You can go to biddingfortravel.com for help. Just bid for a 3* hotel in the airport zone. If you're rejected you can add a zone that doesn't offer 3* hotels (a so called free rebid) and increase your bid.

2.5 hotels are ok BUT I think some don't offer free shuttles.

After you get your luggage you use the hotel phone near baggage claim. They'll tell you where to wait for the shuttle.

I SUGGEST YOU GET A HOTEL. I don't think security will let you just sleep in the airport and your room in the Dolphin might not be ready until late afternoon.

You can go to biddingfortravel.com and get all the answers you need. Read the FAQ. The short answer go to priceline.com, start to make a bid, pick a zone, hit next and it will tell you what * level it has. Use the prev button on the bottom of the screen and repeat the procedure for the next zone. You'll have more than enough free rebids.

The 2.5 and even 2* airport properties are ok but THEY ALL DON'T HAVE a 24 hour free airport shuttles.

Basically start at about $35 add $2 and a free rebid zone each time you're rejected. YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED AND YOURE RESERVATION CAN'T BE CHANGED OR CANCELLED. Make sure you have your plans set in stone. No guarantee of a 24 hour shuttle BUT all the 3* properties seem to have them. If you don't get anything at $45 wait a 3-7 days and repeat the procedure.

There is a 24 hour Dennys near the hotels. There is also a Hooters and Chiles but I'm not sure of the hours.

I second the Priceline advice from Lewis...we have stayed at all of the 3* places in the MCO zone on Priceline bids at one time or another,,,they are all nice and all have efficient and friendly complimentary shuttle service 24/7.

I do NOT bid on 2 or 21/2* properties in that zone because there are a couple that do not have shuttle service at all and a couple that only run the shuttle until 10 or 11PM (I think they are nice enough places to stay...just don't want to get stuck without a shuttle).

Airport rooms generally go for $36 to $40/night at the 3* hotels, but may take a few dollars more on peak dates. Advance availability in that zone seems to be good, so you can bid well in advance often times with good results.

The Hyatt at the MCO airport is $144 w/ the AAA discount if you book it far enough in advance. Amazingly quiet considering the location. Probably quieter than the other hotels nearby.

we booked the hyatt for our first nite arriving at 6 pm id rather start disney fresh in the morning we paid 149.00 :earseek:

Lewis - Thank YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for all your help and I will listen to what you say and let you know what happens. THANKS AGAIN

We are arriving late and leaving early, so we are staying there one night on each end of this trip. They are starting to know us by name as well as sight. :)

We are doing the same thing. I went to expedia and got Clarion for $50 with tax. They said to call when you get your luggage and they will have a shuttle (van) for free. The shuttle runs every half hour from 4:30am to 2:00am. - LJ01

We're in a similar situation...arriving at 11:00 pm on a Thursday and have a Friday thru Friday week at Vistana resorts. We got the same deal as LJ01 for the Clarion, ($50.00 including tax), on the Airtran web-site. Seems like a nice hotel, close, 24 hour shuttle service and a full breakfast to boot. Good Luck!

I've been trying to bid on Priceline for a 3* at MCO with no luck. I've read the Bidding for travel FAQ. I've waited more than 72 hrs. in between bidding times and each time I try to go back and rebid at a higher price, it tells me to change either my location, travel dates or * level. I'm a little unsure what to do. I definitely want a room at MCO and it has to have the free shuttle service. I wanted a 3* but bidding is not working for me. Can someone offer some advice please. I don't travel until June, so I do have some time, but what am I doing wrong? Why won't it let me rebid at a higher price, without changing location or dates or star level? Help!

You get a "fee rebid" by just adding one of the zones that doesn't offer a 3* hotel.

You wait 72 hours after your last bid and just start a new bid. If that still doesn't work delete the cookies from your computer.

3* airport hotels seem to be $38-$45. Just add a few dollars and a free rebid zone until you get what you want. BE VERY CARFEUL you check the zone on the PL website (select a zone see what * are offered use the PREV button to go back and select a different zone). When you complete the process you'll have a list of free rebid zones to use. If you follow BFT it seems the bids necessary to get a 3* airport hotel are a little higher than in the past.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still a little confused. I only want a 3* and I need to be at the airport, so I don't want to change zones. It's not giving me a free rebid unless I change something. Can't change the date or zone, and I'm afraid that if I rebid at a 2 1/2 * zone, I might get something that doesn't offer a shuttle to and from the airport to the hotel. What should I do?

For the long version go to biddingfortravel.com.

The short version. Your bid for a 3* airport is rejected. You add a zone that doesn't offer a 3* hotel. You've satsified PL rules, you've added a zone. You've met your criteria, your bid now covers 2 zones but since the airport is the only zone you're bidding that has a 3* hotel the only zone you'll get will be the airport zone.

Take the time to look at each zone (act like you're going to make a bid, check the highest star rating, hit PREV and repeat for another zone). You'll then know how many "free rebids" you have. Since you're basically bidding from 38 to 45 you don't need very many rebids to cover your range.

Send me a PM if you need more help.

Thanks for your help Lewis C.

I went back and looked to see which zones did not have a 3* level and added those zones. Tried a total of 5 times tonight, each time I increased my bid by $1 increment. I guess I'm bidding too low. I was up to $38 and did win a bid. I'll wait a few days and try again. By the way, I started bidding for a 3* at MCO at $32. Went as high as $38 and didn't get anything.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Also, if I wait another week and then start bidding again, should I start low again or start off with the $38 bid I ended with? Thanks everyone.

Barb

If you look at biddingfor travel most of the recent winning bids have been between 39-45. I suggested you bid between 38-45. You stopped at 38. If you're not going for a while you can bid every week or so and hope to score a low bid otherwise start where you want, increase by enough to end at $45. Would you rather pay a few extra dollars and get it over with or would you rather keep bidding every week or so and hope to save an extra $5?

If you carefully read the FAQ at BFT you can make a post and based on the current rates one of the moderators may be able to give you better advice. I wait until my trip is close and don't care if it costs an extra few dollars.
