I have just been reading about hire car problems people have experienced with Dollar. We fly with Virgin landing at Orlando landing Nov 29th this year. What hire firm does Virgin use and at this time of year will there be enough cars? There are 3 of us, 2 adults and 1 child. I am hoping that we will get upgraded for free. I have never landed here before so was wondering on tactics. Can I let my wife claim our baggage whilst I get the car or is it advisable for us all to stay together?:confused3

The hire company will be Dollar if you booked with Vigin. You may be lucky to get a free upgrade but dont bank on it. If you upgrade it wont cost that much. If you have an intermediate car booked, you could upgrade to a luxury, something like a 300c, for 2 weeks for around $350.00

As Paul says it's definitely Dollar.

They often have offers on, possibly if they have more than the usual amount of vehicles available in a particular size.
Free upgrade? Unlikely I would suspect, the only way you will get one is if they do not have the size of car available that you have booked.

If you have never landed here before personally I would advise you all to stay together.
On a positive note having been many times and always used Dollar I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes or so for all the details to be sorted out.
There is always a queue but it's never really been an inconvenience for us.

If you are with Virgin Holidays, they have a seperate desk to the normal Dollar hire. If you haven't done it already...................Get a Dollar Express card. :thumbsup2
On my last trip, by showing my Express card, I was put to the front of a 10 deep queue. Every little helps after a 9 hour flight. :)

Yes it's the seperate desk we use, I haven't signed up for Dollar Express as I don't like the idea of them permanently holding my credit card details - in addition we stay at the Hyatt MCO anyway on the 1st night so don't have as much pressure time-wise.
