I can't sleep at all. I know it has alot to do with the chaos in my life right now but it is so not going to help me to be utterly exhausted when Dorian wakes Tomorrow. I would love to know what you do when you can't sleep.

took Ambien for a while. now I use 1 mg melatonin when I'm having a streak of insomnia. I have to kind of predict when I will need it, though. If I wait too late to take it, I'm too sleepy the next morning.

Hope you find something. Reading is iffy for me... if the book is too interesting, I will keep reading even if I do get sleepy.

I have been reading watching TV just lying in the bed staring at the ceiling. I just cant sleep. Sigh I see this is going to be a long night.:(

Get up, go clean something, go dance, go punch a couch, don't lay there thinking about why you aren't sleeping.
Ask your doctor for some suggestions on over the counter sleep help. Things like benadryl and tylenol pm.

I've done all that, reading a book I think is very boring. There's a game online that I can play that puts me to sleep immediately. I sometimes go for a walk.
Sometimes I stretch my entire body starting from my head and going down. I can spend 30 minutes just stretching and relaxing.
but on some soothing music if you need to.

At one point or another I've done all of these. Including dissing in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping. lol

{{{hugs}}}

I take three calcium and magnesium supplements about an hour before my bedtime and I'm good to go.

minesweeper tires my eyes pretty quickly

What works for me is to lie in bed......slowly relax all the muscles in my body and then.......count each out breath up to 10 , then start over.... keep repeating....
concentrate ur mind on the number.....

But if you really arent tired then I go with the get up and do something.

I watch movies...no joke..I sleep in almost every movie I see...lol

or I just watch tv or get on the computer...sometimes I do crunches before bed to tire myself out

I hope you can get some sleep soon :)

During the school year, I have trouble sleeping except on Friday and Saturday.

After I've been laying down for a while, I flip on the TV. Don't watch anything that will get you all worked up such as sports. Reading comes next, and then boring myself to sleep by studying :o

One night, I took two Tylenol PM about 7 p.m. We went to the mall and got back around 8:30. When I got out of the car, I almost fell over because I was so drowsy. I went straight to bed and slept all the way until morning. It makes some people tired in the morning, but not me.

work out, or at least take a long walk daily and eat right. Not easy to do in times of stress, but it really makes me feel better overall, and sleep better as well.

Get up and DIS or do homework
take tylenol pM or Percogesic
take a hot bath

I started doing simple yoga stretches to relax myself when I went through my divorce. It took a little practice to clear my mind but it really helped me to cope with all the stress and sleep.

Bath and Body works makes a lavender vanilla linen spray that knocks me out. I love it. They also have shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that I use if I am really stressed.

I had this problem going through a stressful time in my life. I couldn't use Tylenol PM because I couldn't dedicate the full 8-10 hours of sleep that i needed and it made me so drowsy for the next day. I used a tylenol product called simply sleep, I had to take it about 45 minutes before I wanted to go to sleep and it worked, it didn't knock me out but I was able to fall asleep and wake up feeling like I slept. That kind of wake up when you think for the first moment everything is great and you reach out and then reality sinks in.... either way, it got me through the night and I was able to get out of bed without dragging anymore than I normally would.

Thank you all for the advice... I slept for 3 hours finally between 6 and 9 am. Once again tonight I am sitting here waiting to get tired enough to get back in bed. I am giving Dorian alittle more time to be awake so he will sleep alittle later tomorrow for me. Of course I can't just go to bed now since his father isn't home once again. I know it is still because of the shock that I can't sleep but I hope it doesn't last long I have no idea if I am going to make it this weekend with the move and all. There is entirely too many things going on right now..I think I need Calgone..."take ma away"

I take Dramamine...works well and does not dry me out as much as Benadryl does. {{{Hugs}}} I hope things get better soon.

I try to do Disney ABC stuff. I will name all restaurants, places, characters. Usually I end up falling asleep pretty quickly.

Hopefully you can start sleeping soon, it is so nerve racking when you can't:(

I've taken an herbal supplement called "Valerian" a bunch of times, and I sleep great with it. I've never tried Melatonin, I'll have to check out that one.

I know it sounds really silly, but you know when your alarm goes off in the morning and all you can think about is how comfortable your bed is when you lay down? Thats the mindset I try to get in when I have trouble sleeping. How nice the sheets feel against my skin when I wrap myself up in them, how soft my pillow is.
