This is a great thread...

We are thinking of buying an Impala so at the very least, if we get one in November it will be like a three week TEST drive...;)

We picked up our car on Friday, August 29. Seems like there wre quite a fewImpala's, 4-door Buicks, no convertibles, and 2 PT Cruisers. We chose the metallic blue Cruiser as we knew we would never have trouble finding it in the parking lot. We rented one on an earlier trip and find it very enjoyable to drive. Just 2 of us, so trunk space is not an issue.

We arrived Saturday (8/30) at 9:45am. We went to the "A" side and the lot was full. We chose a blue Mitsubishi (sp?) Outlander. It was an okay small SUV. My husband did have a little fun with it but again it was just okay.

All right, what we saw when we got there. There were two Outlanders, a PT Cruiser, and a ton of cars. As or cars, I saw the usual Centuries, Impalas, Grand Prixs, and a few others I didn't recognize.

We returned the car to "A"side on Tuesday (9/2) at 5:15pm. The wasn't near as full. I saw one PT Cruiser and about 10 of the usual cars.

Check out and check in were a breeze.

Just returned today. Rented a car from the EA last Saturday, August 30 around 10am. I had a EA Reservation for a Full-size, but decided to check the EA Aisle first for an SUV. I have been reading this thread everyday for the last several weeks, day-dreaming and secretly wishing that I would get a Jeep Liberty or another SUV on the EA.

Arrived and saw a bright blue Outlander on the Ailse, ran up to it, opening the doors and jumping around with excitment. But at the same time, I was a little leary about the storage space, as I had a family of 4 adults with lots of roller-suitcases and my nephew with his umbrella stroller. In all of my excitement, I didn't notice that parked RIGHT BESIDE the SUV was a Bonneville! Needless to say, I grabbed the Bonneville, with lots of trunk space and leather seats.

Had a little delay getting through the check-out gate, because the attendant said that I wasn't suppose to be able to get this car. But she did something to make it work in the computer.

Glad to hear you got a great vehicle! Did you make the reservation before they changed the Emerald Aisle rules in March? For reservations after March, you can no longer reserve EA with anything other than intermediate. If you reserve a full size now, you have Emerald Reserve and you have to pick from the full size row. That's why the attendant may have been confused.

No, I didn't make my reservation prior to March. Just a month or so ago.

After making my reservation online, I called the 1-800# and asked if I could check the EA for a car prior to checking the Full-size aisle. They said 'yes'.

I had a coupon from the Entertainment Book, and my reservation said I had to proceed to the Counter. When I did, there was a sign that said for Emerald members to proceed to the garage and select a car. Maybe if I had spoken with someone at the counter, they would have directed me to the Full-size aisle and that aisle only.

I think I just lucked out!

Also, I want to mention that I used the Carlson Wagonlit Contract ID from Mousesavers and it worked. I was a little nervous about using that code, but it worked fine.

Just got through reading this whole thread!! Whew!!!

My question is this. I just made my ressie (on Friday) for an intermediate for Oct. 11. I want to make sure I have this right. I can only take a car from intermediate aisle? Or can I go to the full size aisle? And I can get it from the A or B terminal right? What is this stuff about new rules as of March and you can only reserve an intermediate, not a full?

Barbruka - if you are an Emerald Aisle member, you can reserve an intermediate and then take any class car from the EA (but only the EA). If you need a specific class, say a full-size, then you need to reserve a full-size. It's kind of a crap shoot - in our last two trips, we've made ressies for intermediate and wound up getting a full-size on the EA. Hope this helps.....

Picked up my car on Sunday, Aug. 31st at approx. 2:30pm.
There were Galants, Malibus, Intrepids, one Monte Carlo, about 10 Impalas ( I took a Burgandy one) two Jeep SUV things, one pickup truck. The aisle seemed to have more full size cars than mid size. This was on the "A" side. Nice selection.

First, you are an Emerald Club member. If you make a reservation for an Intermediate, you can select from the Emerald Aisle or the intermediate aisle only. This is all explained on their web site. Go to the EC welcome screen (the one that comes on after you log in) click on the link under Emerald Reserve and it will all be explained. :)

A side 10/04 1 Impala, 1 Intrepid, lots of Malibu's, and Corolla's, and 1 Outlander that I took. This was at 1:45 pm.

Today 10/10 at about 5:30 pm, 4 Montana's, 1 Grand Caravan, about 4 or 5 Impalas, and the rest Corolla's and Malibu's.

Friday Morning 8/29 (10 - 11 am)

A side - 1 PT cruiser, no SUV's, no minivans

As we were hoping for a mini-Suv, we went over to B side.

B Side - no PT cruisers, a few intrepids, took the only Pontiac Grand Prix with leather and a sunroof

If you have reserved a fullsize, can you take a fullsize from the Emerald Aisle? Or MUST you take one from the fullsize aisle?

Scenario: nothing but Century's (blechhh!) in the fullsize aisle, but a couple Intrepids and Camry's in the Emerald Aisle. Do I really have to take a Century? (@#$#@!)

If you rent a full size you can only select from the full size aisle.
Look on National's web site, they explain it really well.

On the hang tag that they have on the mirror or dashboard, they checkoff a box for which aisle it is in so they will know when you get to the booth.

It's really a roll of the dice, it was nice before when you could reserve full size and pick from either. When it's just my mom and I we can get by on an intermediate, so I'll use intermediate, EA. If I'm with a group of 3 friends, we'll do full size.
