What have you said to get a good reaction from a character?

Entered Magic Kingdom and Wendy was the first character we saw. Knowing that my daughter's favorite character is Peter Pan I asked Wendy "Have you seen Peter Pan." She replied "Of course. He picked me up at my window this morning."

When my sister was in 3rd grade (now she's a freshman in college) and I was in 6th grade (now a senior in college), my parents took us on our first trip to Disney World. My sister wore a Daffy Duck shirt to MK. That day we happened to run into Donald Duck and went to get his autograph. When Donald saw my sister shirt, he was very upset. And he "told" he that she needed to get 3 shirts of him! It was so funny to watch. My sister was so embarassed! I think that was the last time she wore that shirt too, because it made Donald mad. :rotfl:

DH (FSUMARCHIEF) has already posted about some of our experiences at 1900 Park Fare, but another of the funnier moments was when Pooh came by our table (I think for the second time). I said to him, "Pooh, I noticed that there was no honey on the buffet...did you eat it all?" He pretended to be embarrassed, then he shook his head no, and pointed to DS. Then DH said, "If I were you, Pooh, I would complain about them not having any honey!" Pooh mimed that we should write down a complaint and give to the restaurant, asking them for honey on the buffet.

Later, Mary Poppins was at the table, and Bert was walking by. My DS asked her where Piglet was (because Pooh and Tigger were there). Mary said to Bert, "Tell him why Piglet doesn't come." And Bert said, "It's on account of the bacon on the buffet!"

We've had so many great character experiences~the most important part of communicating with them is KNOWING something about their character, or their movie(s). For almost every character we saw on this last trip (September), DS asked them where someone else from their movie/experience was. i.e. Asked Goofy, Where is Max? Asked Donald, Where are Huey, Dewey, Louie? Asked Buzz, Where is Zurg? (And Buzz stomped his foot so hard that it scared DS!!) And if the character is a little "off" that day and seems to have a hard time coming up with something, be prepared to help them out...Donald couldn't figure out where H, D, and L were, so I said, "Are they in school, Donald?" Do your homework before you go! :sunny:

This was unplanned, but funny. When Piglet came to our table at the Crystal Palace, DS 2 was eating bacon. Piglet put his hand to his forehead and pretended to faint on his CM; then hid his eyes, etc. The CM told our DS to please hide the bacon, so he covered it with his napkin before Piglet would come closer.

DS 4 wished the Mad Hatter a "very merry unbirthday", and the Mad Hatter sang the whole song with him. Too fun!

I love this thread!

I don't have that really have any 'great' stories. My DH does always try to upset the villians much to my DD's dismay. They are 5 and 8 and are still a bit afraid of the villians.

He always says something like "Picking on girls again, Khan?" in the parade (the bad guy from Mulan). He usually gets an evil look! He always says "Off with their heads" when he sees the QUeen of Hearts.

The best was when I was trying to convince my 8 year old who was then 5 to get in the Malificent line in Fantasyland. I went in it for her to get her autograph. Well, she finally got brave enough to join me. Anyway, while I'm waiting in line, my DH says. "Hey Malificent, you know who has the 'real' power, Mickey!" The character handler said "I guess you want to have nightmares tonight, huh?" and Melificent stopped what she was doing (signing someone's book) and walk right up to my DH (she was a head taller than him!) and said "little men like you need to be careful of what they say". She then walked back and continued the line. When it was my turn, I appologized and she said "he's with you? YOu poor thing". I also appologized for not having the book open to the right page and she said "don't let it happen again" and slammed the book shut.

One cute memory is our first trip ever in 1998 when our older DD was 2. Her souvenir was a Goofy hat. When we went in the Toontown tent we saw Goofy. Well, when he saw her wearing his hat, he proceeded to pick her up and hug her and then he tried to walk away with her. He pointed to her hat and 'said' she was his and that he was going to keep her. It took quite a bit of persuading to get her back!

That same year on the DCL cruise, my DD was the talk of the cruise because she was a dancing queen! Everywhere we went on the cruise she was dancing. They had a dancing time with the characters near the Goofy pool. Well, Pluto knocked her over good (by accident) and she was crying and we had to go. Well, about 2 hours later we were back there dancing with the characters again, Pluto saught us out and 'said' how very sorry he was he knocked her over and how cute and sweet she was and he gave her lots of special attention. We got some great pictures of that.

I love some of the ideas given here to get more interaction! I'd love to try the Donald Duck anger management question!!

This is such a great thread! I will use some of these ideas when visiting this month for MNSSHP!!

One great experience my DH and I had was in ToonTown on our honeymoon. We waited until the afternoon parade and headed over for pictures with the characters. Chip and Dale were great, they noticed my wedding rings and pointed to them with excitedment and I said yes we just got married. They proceeded to dance around with me spin and dip me as well.:D

Next, we went on to see Mickey and Minnie. Minnie went so cute pointing to my ring and I said it's time for you to get one of your own. Well, her and Mickey were hugging and tugging at the rings. It was so cute and made our whole trip. Very memorable honeymoon for sure~

I will post to this again once we get back to let you know if I've used any ideas or come up with any of my own!

Keep posting!

My DD5 has asked you guys to come up with something that will provoke a great reaction from Goofy. I saw some on here but just wondered if anybody had any more good Goofy- specific ideas.
Much pixie dust,
Claire

My BF and I went to Disneyland about 3 years ago--his first time at any Disney park, and my first time to a park in years. We were checking into the Disneyland Hotel, and Goofy came by.

It's amazing how much the characters can communicate without speaking! In a matter of minutes, Goofy told us how unfair it was that everything about Disneyland focused on Mickey. He picked up brochures, tickets, reservation confirmations... Mickey, Mickey, Mickey. Where were the pictures of Goofy? he asked. Where?

My BF was surprised, amused and almost disoriented. I don't think he was expecting that level of interaction with the characters!
