What have you learned from YOUTUBE?

I've learned a ton of stuff and saved a ton of money!!! Mostly mechanical stuff, how to groom my mini Aussie, fixing broken oven...I could go on and on!

I've learned how to do minor fixes on a lot of mundane house stuff I was too embarrassed to ask someone about. How do you unclog a toilet? Done. How to unclog a sink? Done. How to change weather stripping around doors? Done...things like that.

I've learned a ton also. How-tos for Excel, Photoshop, and game walk throughs. Plus knitting demonstrations, swimming strokes, gardening tips, how to best cut butternut squash and leeks and I'm sure a whole lot that I'm forgetting.

My brother saved a lot of money by watching a tutorial on repairing an American Girl doll arm.

DW and DD replaced all the light switches in our house after watching YouTube.

Learning new things with the camera. Fixing odd things around the house. We don't own it, but it still helps to fix it sometimes as long as I am not putting out the money. You tube sure comes in handy for many uses of learning. Even figuring out how to deal with computer issues.

DH uses it all the time. He's learned everything from how to change timing belts on cars to refinishing an old gun his dad had. I watched a few videos on how to make FP+ selections since it had been awhile since I had done it.

Tons of stuff, most complex was rebuilding the transmission in one of my trucks,

My DH and I replaced 3 toilets in our home. I did one all by myself.

I could go on and on.......

Several years ago, I learned how to check and empty the drain for our front-load washer.. I found a lot of junk in it- a sock, change, paper clips and a small comb!

A few years later, DS & I took our dryer apart and replaced the heating element. Then had a mouse somewhere in the dryer (I thought) and took the drum out of it a few months later. (It was actually in the vent under the house.) It's still working 2 years later! Thank you YouTube!

Most important with an elementary schooler- common core math! Old school is so different than how DS8 is learning it.

DS is always on YouTube learning how to do things on Minecraft and Lately Terraria.

I also used it to fix our printer and washing machine.

My DH calls it YouTube University. I usually start with a Google search and about half the time that leads to a YouTube video. I couldn't begin to name the countless tutorials and solutions but there are a few that stand out. A few years ago one of my kids Leap Pads was acting wonky and a search helped me fix it. I remember thinking how convinenant that was compared to dealing with the manufacturer and having to send it in. Learning how to program a garage door remote to my truck. Fixing the blower for my air/heat in my truck in the front. The problem was very sporadic, DH couldn't pin it down and refused to even consider taking it to a mechanic. I got very specific in that search and it paid off, $25 part. Now we need to figure out the heat in the back portion it suddenly blows ice cold air. There were a couple of computer problems DH said couldn't be resolved, I spent days searching those and ended up fixing them myself. Pretty proud of those since anything deeper than a reboot used to scare me.

DGS5 and I learn how to open toys. We watch a ton of Hobbykidstv videos of new toys. Ninja Turtles, Super Heroes, Octonauts, etc. We like BlackNerd too. He is hysterical and taught us a lot about blind boxes and bags. I guess that's not really educational except that I now know everything he wants for his birthday. lol

Fix stove top, water heater, change headlight bulb, change a brake trip thing. got these off the top of my head, i'm sure there are more. i had no clue for the brake thing.

I learned how to cut my own hair. WITH LAYERS!! After my daughter saw my hair she let me cut hers as well. It saves us a ton of money!:yay:

We also learned how to take apart the washer and clean the drain, Hey Look, that's where that sock went!. We also replaced the soap sensor as it had gone out and the washer wouldn't run. I learned how to knit. DH learned where the cabin air filter in the car was. We put in a chandelier. There's a cute one on how to bathe your cat where they use a stuffed cat and say at the end "don't try this with a real cat". :)

The most recent thing, beyond game walkthroughs, was how to use the Paris Metro. Was there in April and while not hard at all, it was nice to know in advance how to use it.

I use it whenever I need to know how to do anything.
