What have you done when it rained during vacation?

At Disney....Light rain, carry on. Heavy rain for hours on end... we head to a movie... relax with a cocktail at the lounge at the escort.
Take a good book curl up somewhere in a comfy chair
or
people watching or shop for a while...
Rain doesn't stop us.

At Disney, we put on our ponchos & either focus on longer indoor attractions (ie Hall of Presidents, indoor Epcot pavilions) or we hop on the monorail & visit the different hotels.

Other vacations, we might go to a movie, do some indoor shopping, or if its a really nice hotel, we might just stay in and relax.

Wait it out.

We usually visit WDW in Sept to have lower crowds but it rains a lot. Usually our trip isn't too badly interrupted, out on a poncho and wear sandals and keep going.
But I feel that we visit WDW enough if we have a wash out day or two we'll be back.

Other areas we may not visit as much we look online for averages and don't travel during rainy season. Sure it still happens, but we make the best of it, wear a rain jacket and keep going.

Regarding hiking, if it's not lightening or heavy downpour we just put on a rain jacket and hike.

When we went to Harrisburg PA we changed our plans around based on the weather forecast. We chose to do a museum day instead of Gettysburg and it worked well since it rained most of the day.

Once at a campground it suddenly started raining and thundering so we all went inside the arcade that was the closest thing to us (we were at the beach so all in swimsuits etc). It was fairly crowded then we lost electricity. It was interesting with all these crying kids etc but fortunately was over in 20-30 minutes. Another time I was alone with 2 kids ages 4 and 8 getting ready to take Megabus from NYC to Boston. The busstop was outside. We were there about 30 minutes early which was the recommended time. While waiting inline for boarding to start it just started to pour out. The driver came over and told me to get the girls on the bus but after that we preferred taking transportation that left from inside.

The worst time was watching the fireworks in Boston for July 4th one year. For those familiar with Boston I was not on the Esplanade but on the Cambridge Side. We parked near Lechmere and walked past the Galleria down the waterfront around the barge area. I have no idea how far that is maybe a mile? We knew it was supposed to rain but we along with tons of other people were hoping the rain would hold off. The Boston Pops held off on playing the traditional 1812 Overture. The fireworks were great. The second they ended I heard an announcement that said something like the Boston Pops will not be playing the 1812 Overture followed by the State Police order an immediate evacuation of the Cambridge Waterfront. Then the sky just opened up, not with a small drizzle gradually getting worse but with a downpour that lasted the entire time it took to get back to the car which was slowed down by 100s of people doing the same commute.

Once it tranied like 4-5 hours real hard in vegas (who would of thought) just stayed in room and ended up having a great time, but if you got kids with ua, I doubt that will hapen

I like to get down and dirty:smokin:

We spent a rainy morning in NYC watching old tv shows a the Paley Center. Probably wouldn't have if it had been a short visit but we were there for 10 nights so had the time to do so.
