Well well well, Happy New Year to all of you! And so it is now 23 days before we leave on our adventure to The World. Every story needs a background story, so here's mine:
I grew up an only child born the year before Disney opened. We would alternate years so that we came to Florida every other year. Crappy little lake weekend one year so we could save for Disney the next. I remember when Epcot opened, I remember when MGM opened, and then Animal Kingdom. I have always sort of been the "commando" type, although as I grew up and out of my folks house I didn't come as often. Last trip was the year I was married, 2001. Now I will let you know that ANY crowds at all will be more than I am used to , as my last trip was 2 months after 9/11, and the parks were EMPTY!!!!! We actually got moved from Port Orleans to Coronado because WDW closed some hotels and consolidated due to lack of attendance. We walked onto EVERYTHING!
Anyway, I came back from Disney that year with a souvenir, although I didn't know it at the time. She is now my oldest, and has 2 behind her!
So I got this CRAZY idea that DH's family should come to WDW with us for our first family trip. Someone should have smacked me then, but they didn't, so here we are. The original plan was for me, DH, DD, DS, DD, the grandparents, DBIL and DSIL. 9 of us. DBIL was going to help us pay for everything for the grandparents as a gift. I started coming to the DIS and found out about renting points. So I got in touch with someone and rented a WHOLE BUNCH OF POINTS, God smiled down upon us, and we have a Grand Villa at OKW!! YEA!!!!!
So check that off the list, place to stay, paid for! DBIL put up half, just like he said, and all was well. I still worry, though, that when we get there the reservation will be gone! I won't be satisfied till we check in, then I will relax.
Anyway, I am at this point the only one excited, and have been since this started. I mean, the kids are excited, but they have no idea why. They have never been to WDW so they have nothing to compare it to. I am trying to not get frustrated, but I can't explain to them what they are about to see. I guess I just need to be patient.
Meanwhile, BIL backed out, but DH promises to get the rest of the $$ for DDP, Tickets, yada yada yada.
GEEZ, this sounds so negative! I am normally so perky! Maybe tomorrow - if not then, then for sure on the 25th!
