I've been on the DIS boards for about a month and just found these journals.
This is my story....
DH and I went to WDW in November 2003. THis was our last big trip before trying to have a baby. I went off the pill and things seemed fine at first, but then I wasn't regular. I went to the doctor and found that my insulin levels were very, very high (mine was 26 and the limits are between 6 and 27) which was causing me not to ovulate. I was 217 lbs at the time and I'm 5'4". A fertility Dr explained that I had insulin resistance---my body made insulin when I ate but didn't know what to do with it so made more. He was going to put me on glucophage (Spelling??) to regulate the insulin and help me loose weight, but I ended up having an overactive liver and couldn't take it. :sad2: I then went to an endocronologist. He put me on a sensible diet-3 small balanced meals and 3 small snacks a day. Over six months I lost 32 lbs, cut my insulin level in half, dropped my cholestoral from 201 to 192, and my liver function was normal. :cool1: Then I went on vacation that September and off my diet. I tried to get back on the diet, but never really stuck with it all the time. Over the next year I managed to loose 10 more lbs. THen this past April we went on a cruise and my 10 lbs came back. :guilty: I've only managed to maintain my weight since then, but REALLY,REALLY want to drop another 45-50 lbs. I"m hoping by writing here it will motivate and help me. My husband tries really hard to be suportive, but he just can't understand what I"m going through. So, today I think I weighed in at 187.5. I've eaten pretty good except for the little bit of Halloween candy a customer gave us at work today. DH and I will go for a nice walk after dinner (about 45min around our developement) I'll start keeping a record of what I'm eating tomorow since this intro is already long enough.

Well, here goes nothing...

:wave2:

This is an awesome place. Everyone here has helped out so much in the past couple of months. I wouldn't be where I am today without them - and I've lost 36 pounds since July 14 when I came here.

Keep on
Chris

Well, DH and I went for our walk last night. I felt pretty good aboutit even though I didn't do the best on my diet. But, today is a new day. Here's the plan:

B: Oatmeal w/ 1% milk and splenda
Coffee w/ Fat Free 1/2&1/2 and splenda

S: Fat Free yogurt

L: Large salad w/ Perdue frozen popcorn chicken (only 130 calories and 3 grams of fat) and low fat dressing and grapes

S: Apple

D: Left over homemade chicken soup
Salad w/ low fat dressing

S: Edy's light ice cream (if I have a snack)

After dinner another 45 minute walk with DH. I'm trying to be optomistic, but it's a little hard because I know I'm not going to do good on my diet tomorrow. :guilty: I'll only be bad at dinner so I guess if I do OK the rest of the day and still walk at night it's not as bad as it could be.

Hi and welcome to WISH!!!

This is a great place and tons of support!

You are on the right track, keep up the good work. And remember if you fall off today, tomorrow is a new day, you can start over!

Have a great Thursday!

OK so I did really good yesterday. The only part of my meal plan that changes was tht I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwhich with my soup for dinner instead of another salad. But, I made it with wheat braed, 97% fat free ham, lite swiss cheese and lite butter. After dinner DH and I went for another 45 minute walk. I felt really, really good last night. Today I'm off to a good start-Oatmeal with 1% milk and splenda and coffee with fat free 1/2&1/2 and splenda. You'll find that is what I ahve almost every morning. I enjoy it and the oatmael seems to make me feel fuller longer. Lunch will be a test. I'll be out shopping with my DSIL and DN (nephew) I think I'll be able to manage a salad somewhere. Dinner is going to be bad :guilty: Every Fridat my mom and I go out to dinner and then go grocery shopping. Since I'm off today we're going to TGIFriday's because they have that 3 course dinner for $12.99. We almost never go somewhere like Friday's because we can't get there early enough not to wait. So tonight is a bit of a treat. DH were going to walk when I got home, but it's supposed to be pouring rain :umbrella: So that means I'll be banished to the treadmill in the basement :sad1: I gueass a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Well, that's all for now I'll let everyone now how things go.

Way to go!!!!! You made great food choices yesterday!

Keep up the great work. Hope you have a wonderful Friday

Welcome to the Dis! I'm new to the Wish boards too. good luck on your journey. It will all be worth it in the end! :cheer2:

Hi!!

I recently started a journal here too. I think it's probably the best thing I could have done for my diet. I know the support and accountability is going to make a huge difference and I believe it will for you as well.

I actually think the grilled ham sandwich (using the ingredients you used) is fine. I have one often. You can make it even better by leaving off the butter and using only one piece of bread. I toast mine under the broiler and add a little red onion and sliced tomato. I use alpine lace from the deli, and I get them to slice it real thin so that I'm only using 1/4 - 1/2 ounce at a time.

You are off to a great start!!

Hihi! and welcome!

this place is absolutley awesome. Keep at it! your doing great. Your grilled cheese sandwich sounds delish, i'm going to try it sometime. :cool1:

Great job on the exercise :cool1:

I think that I'm just going to pretend yesterday didn't exist and start new today. As I said I went out shopping with my DSIL and out to dinner with mom. Lunch and dinner were both bad and I was realy tired when I got home so I didn't exercise. Today's a new day and a new week. Every since I've starting loosing weight I've counted SAturday morning as my official weigh in day. Today was 186.1. So far so good today. I had my oatmeal and coffee. No more excuses, I've got to do better when I go out. I'm putting my foot down and getting tough with myself. Looks like I'll have to use the treadmill all week. It's supposed to be rainy all week. I hate the treadmill! Some days I tell my DH that he's going to have to make me go use it. And as much as I complain and yell he makes me do it and I always feel better afterward. I'll try to update later how well I've managed to do today.

I love the treadmill. Use it as your own quiet time. A place where you can go & think about anything you want. You can plan a Disney trip in your mind. You can design your dream home. Imagine yourself in the perfect dress with your new leaner body! Maybe by the end of the week it will grow on you. :)

Sorry, I fell of the face of the erth the past couple of days. I did pretty OK on SAturday, but no exercise. Sunday was good until the end. We went to my in-laws for our anniversary dinner. I could have eaten more for dinner, but controlled myself. Dessert was a whole other story (and no exercise again) :guilty:
Yesterday I REALLY got back on track :cool1: I stuck to my diet all day and exercised TWICE. I had the day off so I used the treadmill for 1/2 an hour in the morning and then DH and I walked for 45 min after dinner. My weight has stayed the same for the past three days, but that means that I managed not to gain weight from the junk I ate.
My goal is to stick to my diet and exercise M-F this week. I know Saturday won't be so good because me, DH and mom are going to a hockey game. I haven't been in sooooo long since there was no hockey last year
DH and I leave on an 11 day cruise on 1/8/06. It's my short term goal to loose 15 pounds by then. Hopefully I'll be able to maintain some control on the cruise and exercise too.

HI!!!! Hope your Tuesday is going well!!!!

You are on the right track, keep up the good work. Congrats on getting the exercise in

I have a question .....
Thanks to other threads found out how to get the ticker on my signature, but how do I adjust it when I start to loose the weight? I asked somewhere else on the board, but got a real smarta** answer. I think it was why don't you just test it like everyone else. The thing is I would expect that I would have to update it since it wouldn't know if I've lost weight. It's not like the ones that count down until your trip. Can someone please help me?

Hi BankBunny!

I just wanted to give a big HELLO and WELCOME to a fellow Lehigh-Valleyite. :wave2: Dh and I grew up in Whitehall (I graduated in '84), but moved to GA 12 years ago when dh got a job here. Also, one of my ex-boyfriends was a basketball coach at Lafayette, so Easton holds a special place in my heart (although ex-bf does not! :teeth: )!

Best wishes to you as you begin your health and fitness journey!

Hi there BankBunny!

First off, just wanted to say Hi! :flower: Good for you for making the choice to live a healthier lifestyle!

I saw your question about the weight loss tickers and how to update them. It's pretty simple. Just click on your ticker in one of your posts. It will take you to your weight loss ticker at the TickerFactory website. Then click on the "Back" button and it will take you to your weight loss stats and you can update your current weight. After you have entered your current weight, click "Next" and it will have updated your stats. Then copy the new BB Code and paste it over your old code in the Signature screen box under your User CP tab. Make sense?

Well good luck! :cheer2: Hope to see you around the boards! And remember, "It's never too late to be what you might have been".

Another great day yesterday :cool1:
I stuck to my diet:
B-Oatmeal w/1% milk & coffee w/fat free 1/2&1/2 and splenda
S-Fat free yogurt
L-Salad w/perdue popcorn chicken & low fat dressing and grapes
S-Special K snack bar
D-Homemahe chicken soup and salad w/ low fat dressing
S-Edy's light ice cream

Walked on the treadmill for 45 min. after dinner.

I'm feeling so good about myself right now. I think that I may have finally gotten myself back on track.

Thanks for all your help and support so far. Please continue to give me your support and advice.

Good Morning,

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Way to go yesterday for staying on track!!!

Keep up the good work

Yay for you for feeling good about yourself!!!!

Your food choices sound good. Mmm homemade chicken soup. Yum.

Three great days in a row....I think I'm finally back on track. Yesterday I had:
B-oatmeal w/1% milk and splenda & coffee w/fat free 1/2&1/2 and splenda (doesn't that sound familiar)
S-fat free yogurt
L-salad w/ perdue popcorn chicken and low fat dressing & grapes
S-apple
D-three small slices of homemade pizza w/97% fatfree ham, peppers, onions and part skim mozzerlla

I did another 45 minutes on the treadmill.

When I talked to my mom about our Friday night dinner I actually turned down Chinese buffet. Mostly because I know that I will be bad on Saturday since we're going to a hockey game. If I can eat really good 6 days a week and exercise everyday I don't think that one day of treating myself is bad. I actually think it will help keep me on thrack. I won't crave bad things all the time if I let myself have them once a week or so.

By the way-luvmydogs which do you like better GA or PA? I've always found the south to be like a whole other country compared to the north.
