Any help is appreciated... I have booked 2 rooms at POR from 10/23 through 10/30 for FTP - so far so good. BUT... as I'm reading posts today, I see that POR is under renovation!?!? I read about POFQ being under renovation, but didn't know about POR - something about the food court being partially closed and bus service is modified to accomodate less guests? Does it sound like I'm freaking out, because I am... I usually stay at POFQ and didn't want any problems, so I thought we'd try POR. Whew... deep breath. Should I try to get in somewhere else or just let Disney worry about it? If they allowed me to book a room and it is unsatisfactory, what will happen? Deep breath. Am I being totally silly? Someone, help!!! Any advice would be super!

You booked a room knowing that part of the resort is being renovated. If you think that is going to cause you a problem, you should choose a different resort.

We are in the same position as you!! We have always stayed at POR and are booked with the FTP 09/28-10/05. I have talked to the relocation supervisor and was told that about half the bldgs are closed for renovation at POR. They assured me that all the amenities would still be up and running (food court/pools/boat service to DTD). I have heard about the middle section of the food court being closed but I don't even remember from last year, using that section. My biggest concern is that the bldgs closest to the main bldg/food court will be closed when we arrive. The CM said at this point "they are still taking reservations, and that we will get a call if anything changes". I'm trying not to freak out and hope for the best. I hope that Disney would work with me if more amenities would be closed. Hope everyone keeps posting that have just returned.

Thanks Is1222, I appreciate the input! It's a little intimidating to ask questions on these boards, I wasn't sure if I should ask... I didn't know about the renovation until today - just browsing around on the boards and that is what caused me to be concerned (the CM didn't mention it when I booked, but it sounds like that isn't unusual). I'll be sure to post if I hear from Disney.

dandee-I just read on another post that the section of the food court that is closed had the taco salad, ribs and chicken. I don't think we will miss this as we usually just got a quick meal (fries, pizza) or fruit/salads out of the cold section. I had booked a room only before finding out about the renovations but then switched to the FTP. On a positive note, maybe the resort will be less crowded. I just wish Disney would stick to one story.

dandee-

Why don't you give one of the other moderates a try? Now would be a perfect time to try something new! Switching your reservation wouldn't cost more, so maybe a trip to CSR or CBR would be a nice change? Personally, I love CSR and highly recommend it!

Have a wonderful vacation!

Erin :D

We are booked at the POR too. My only concern would be a shortage or true non-smoking rooms or maybe no mansion rooms.
but on the other hand.....maybe we will get a rehabbed room.
;)

try carribean beach resort. we've stayed there 3 times, 2 weeks each time, and loved it! get a room on the ground floor with a water view in jamaica. A little walk over the bridge for your coffee in the morning is wonderful.

thanks again for the great advice - I didn't even occur to me to try one of the other moderates! I'll look into it... again appreciate the advice and help!

Dandee - I too have rooms booked at POR and I WAS going to book the FQ at first:rolleyes:

I am going to wait until 3 or 4 weeks before our vacation to see if we get a call to upgrade to a deluxe. If not I wil then enquire if any renovated rooms are available, if not I am going to book AKL.

If they dont call to upgrade you, say 3 or 4 weeks before your stay , you could change to CBR then if you are worried.

magicmouse2 - A general question for you: would you say that a call to upgrade from WDW is just a lucky break or is it something that is possible - considering the amount of rennovations at both PO resorts and how the FTP seems to be bringing in more guests than usual for this time of year? I'm not counting on it, just curious how it works...
If they do you call you and offer an 'upgrade' (in your opinion or past experience) would it be for another moderate or for a deluxe hotel? Second, is it an upgrade that is a good deal - or is it what it would have cost if you had just booked a deluxe hotel package from the beginning?
I know that I'm putting you on the spot - just wondered if you had any ideas/experience with this type of situation (promise I won't hold you to it!!!!)...
I'm thinking about the options that people have suggested, it is always good to have a back-up plan - CBR looks like fun!
Thanks again!

Dandee.....here is my take on the situation. After reading about all the changes/closings over the last year.

In the past everyone was called and offered a lateral move or sometimes an upgrade to some of the deluxes for a price. the price was really good but still more money. but.....these people were all in the POFQ when it closed.

I am also staying at the POR and I honestly don't expect any calls to move because they are pushing the "all amenities are open" thing too much.
yes I know that some have gotten calls already but there are very very few.

Try not to worry too much and if the strain of not knowing is too much......switch now. At least you will get the resort you really wanted.
because if you expect the call it won't happen and it if you move it will. murphys law. ;) ;)

good luck with your decision and remember that FTP has to be booked by June 29th.
