What has your DVC guide done for you??

Actually, you probably do have a guide, but they likely haven't contacted you, so you don't know who it is. Disney usually assigns a guide to every member....doesn't matter how or where you purchased.

So I probably do have a guide? :goodvibes How would I find out? What would I contact them for?

I Bought a resale to, I did not receive any paper from Disney but I called to checked if I was in the system and It kook a WHIIIIIIIlefor me. I asked MS to know who my guide and can't see anything about that. So I used the link " contact us " on DVC web site and received the response the day with the 1 800 number give them your ID number
I called him for the add-on desease

try this it will work :hippie:

I think you have to have realistic expectations for what guides can accomplish.

They can help you get a reservation before closing. This is a great perk to buying from Disney instead of a resale since as soon as you write a check for the deposit, you can book a room - getting a jump on all the other people who want to book a room.

They MAY have more ability to work the system in terms of reclaiming rooms from CRO and having inventory types reallocated in order to close a sale. I've seen a rare post or two where its seems that is what the guide has done, but since people working with their guide are often new, it could be just the guide walking them through the reservation.

They can't magically add rooms to a booked resort. They can't kick someone out who has already booked. They MAY have been able to work the waitlist for you previously, but I suspect that loophole has closed or is closing, since it really isn't fair to the people at the top of the waitlist already. (And the more members demand to know "where I am on the waitlist" - so far something they haven't given us - the less probability there is of anyone getting the waitlist worked (even when it was MS mistake in the first place) - no one wants to explain why you were next on the waitlist yesterday and today you are second.)

Since they've released so many developer points of late, I suspect all the tricks in the trick book are used up.

It will tell you who your guide is when you log into the DVC member site. You can call MS and they'll be able to tell you as well. Guide = Salesman. They only thing they are really good for is selling you more points, but some DVC members here have a relationship with theirs that is good for gossip as well.

We waited a couple years between the time we did our first DVC tour at HH until we actually bought....our 3rd kid was born during that time so although we liked what we heard at the initial sales pitch, we weren't in a hurry to buy.

Then, when our 3rd was 9 months old, DH was asked to go to Disney for a work trip. I had taken a year off from work to stay home with the kids, and I couldn't bear the thought of passing up a Disney trip, but all 5 of us weren't going to fit in a Moderate with DH. So, we called our guide and told him if he could get us ressies at a 2BR with just a few weeks notice, we would buy into DVC. He checked with MS right away, and there wasn't anything available, but then he checked a few other avenues and came back and told us he could get us into OKW. We joined right then.

Upon arrival, we found we were in a building that was being painted. There were workers scraping from early morning through evening every day, and it was pretty noisy. It was a little bit of a challenge as I was trying to get 2 of the 3 kids to take a nap each day during all of that and getting kids to take naps in new surroundings isn't easy in the first place. We were also stepping around and through workers with paint and drop cloths as we entered/left. As the trip went on, I noticed that there didn't seem to be anybody else staying in any of the other rooms in that building. By the end of the trip I realized they had probably taken that room off the list of available rooms due to all of the maintenance, and that's how he got us in there.

Anyway, we had a great trip.....we were just happy to be in Disney....and we've had many wonderful trips since then. Guess the point of this story is that they may pull strings but as other posters have mentioned, they can't do it at the expense of other members.

Good luck with your purchase!

I tried to get my rep to buy us a dinner on our next trip to disney when I added 100 AKV pts. He asked when we were coming the next time and I told him. He never mentioned it again. lol i would really like to see this happen, but I know it won't. I said. "Oh C' mon Jim ( Jim Mc Coy)why don't you throw a dinner in on this deal." I had no idea what perks these guys are capable of. So I figured why not.
I will say this , if there's a dinner waiting for us. I will definatly have to do another Add On just to thank him. LOL
I know this wasn't the direction of your question, but when i first read post I thought it was.
