What has Disney removed that makes you the saddest?

We are soooo unhappy, and well, kind of mad that they did away with the Hyperspace Hoopla! We are not over the top Star Wars fans, but LOVED Dance Off with the Star Wars Stars and Snig and Oopla were some of our favorites!!! Even the years that we weren't there in person we'd look it up on You Tube just to watch the new dances and see what songs Chewbacca was dancing to. We even considered "Bring Back the Hoopla" t-shirts for our trip next week. Really going to miss it this year...and more fireworks are NO substitute!!!:furious:

My first trip was in 1985 & missing so many things
Lights of Christmas (now less decorations every christmas)
Tapestry of Nations (and the other versions)
The original figment
The spaceship earth with walter cronkit
I miss the little whimsical things, paint brushes on tom sawyers is, talking water fountains, mickey on napkins, good food, when shopping on main street was fun and so many other things.
What I really miss is the feeling there was in the park. Part of that is Disney and part is society. I remember most people being pretty mellow, good natured. You signed up for dining the same day unless you were in a Disney hotel, then you could do it a few days in advance. Characters were wandering around. Who else remembers the character bus in Epcot? Sit down meals werent cheap but were a better value. So many places you cannt eat today unless you pay lots extra for a character dinner.
What I miss most is feeling that the outside world disappeared along with all my worries during that week. The parks in my memories brings me back but I am missing so many many old friends. :sad2:

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Was so bummed when I heard it was gone. Same with Snow White.

Characters wandering the parks that you could just approach for pics, no queuing, no lines. And the characters themselves - 3 Pigs, Pinnochio (sp??), the Florida Orange Bird (my favorite).

Speaking of the Orange Bird, I was so excited back in 2012 to see they had brought him back in image at least, if not in character. This was the first trip I'd made back since the late 70's/early 80's, and I was excited to get one of the Orange Bird souvenir sippy balls like I did every year when I was a kid. I was shocked when I was told it doesn't come with fresh Florida OJ anymore! What the heck?? The whole purpose of the Orange Bird was to PROMOTE Florida OJ! I remember it being so sweet and fresh.... I had to settle for orange fanta , which wasn't even close to the same.

One more that might not have been mentioned--the old computer " I/O" show at Epcot.

Wasn't a very big theater but at the end of the presentation they would open the curtains so you could gaze in on a large bank of computers they said were operating things at WDW.

I also really REALLY miss watching MK fireworks at the Tomorrowland Terrace. . .you know, for free, without a reservation at an over-priced dessert party with pre-reserved seating.

The outdoor balcony seating outside of Cosmic Ray's was always DW and I's "spot". We've been eating dinner there since we were 17 and dating. We've had a few trips to WDW while dating, engagement, honeymoon, anniversary, and lots of birthdays, so lots of memories and that was one of our traditions. It was just a very peaceful area. Not many people knew about the seating there so it was almost always empty while indoors was so crowded. You could see and hear the rush of the waterfall outside, great view of the castle and the stars. One of the past few years, they removed the audio speakers (or stopped playing the audio) to Celebrate the Magic and Wishes there. You could hear the show, not the greatest view in the world because of the angle, but we loved it. You couldn't see Wishes from there, though.

On our last trip, we saw that during the refurb to the waterway, the balconies were removed. We were totally bummed. We might have to start passing on Cosmic Ray's altogether, because it's just not the same now.

Aunt Polly's Dockside on Tom Sawyer Island.
Really good simple sandwiches and ice cream- DH and I loved to go sit there during the late 1990's/early 2000's and relax and watch the ferry go by. It was a sweet memory that I wish our children could experience.

We miss several rides, of course. Skyway was FUN, 20,000 leagues was classic, Swan Boats were relaxing. But most of all we really, really miss the simpler, more comfortable times when we weren't managed by Disney.

ADVENTURER'S CLUB!!!(yes I'm that upset) Horizons, the views from the beach at Poly, Hyperspace Hoopla (we are still considering making shirts), and that both the Police Experience and Mike DelGudice won't be at Sounds Like Summer. That's really the only thing that I would say "upset" me :sad1:

I remember alot of the things mentioned here, but I really don't miss too much because I keep remembering Walts words that the park would always be changing. Yes some of the old faves are gone, but they remain in our minds and that is a special place too. I think todays world and todays disney world are more or less reflective of each other. Fast paced. Always on the go. Need ressies for everything. Heck, around our area you have to buy tickets ahead of time to see a movie on the weekend. :lmao: I still think that the youngsters of today will remember fondly the rides and times at Disney just like us old timers remember the simpler times. Times were simple outside of Disney when we were younger too. ;)

That being said, probably the only thing I really miss and it hasn't been mentioned is what my avatar shows. I really loved being in Epcot before everybody else, having a guide tell us unique things about the world showcase. And doing it all standing up on 2 wheels. Would buy a plane ticket right now if I could do that tomorrow morning! :thumbsup2

Earlier today on the resorts board someone mentioned that CM are now asking guests to show proof that they are staying at the Poly before they are allowed to watch wishes from the beach. Really!!

Wow! this comes as a shock and I wonder if it will stick? I always thought WDW encouraged resort hopping so as to drum up interest in staying at other (possibly more expensive) wdw resorts. I understand about having to restrict pool use to guests staying at the resort, but the BEACH? Is it really ever that crowded for fireworks? We did this once bc we had late dinner ressies at Kona and found that we were the only ones on the beach to watch Wishes!
Once this gets out, I would think this policy would really end up discouraging many non-Poly guests from making the later dinner ressies at restaurants at Poly.

As to the OP's original question- I miss the double-decker buses that used to go around WS and the Horizons Pavillion in FW. In MK I miss 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Those submarines were cramped and the view kinda corney but I loved it!

I wonder if it's like that for GF as well? Was going to go there for dinner and stay for the fireworks.

In all honesty I don't miss anything. Yes there were attractions that were removed (Penny Arcade, Magic Shop, River Country, Toads Wild Ride, 2000 Leagues Under the Sea, ect) that I have fond memories of, but life evolves and so does Disney.

Dare I admit that a generation gap truly exists? My children and grandchildren will have fond memories of other attractions that I may not...and that's OK.

I'm sorry I don't know how to cut and paste but to the person who stated that Walt promised that things would always be changing, I don't have a problem with that at all. Change happens all the time but I don't see much of anything being added and soo much being taken away. It's all the little touches that just made Disney so special. I can remember walking into the GF years ago and seeing the GF symbol pressed into the sand of the large ashtray's right before you walked into the doors, that's attention to detail! I would wake up early and watch out my balcony while someone was raking the beach(when their was a beach) smooth with a four wheeler.

All the rides and shows that everyone has been listing on here that are now gone and what has replaced them? Two Dumbo rides instead of one, a building over Belles show(yes I know it's a little more than that but you get my drift) and a whole lot of places to stand in line waiting to see a character. The Mine Train looks wonderful and I hope it is but that's really the only thing "new" out of the whole Fantasy land expansion.

Even the resorts have changed for the worst. I have Christmas tree ornaments from GF, Dixie Landings, YC, Contemporary and the BWI but when I've tried to find them now for each resort they are no where to be found. The gift shops for each resort are very generic now. I could only find one(very ugly) BWI shirt but there were all kinds of DVC shirts. Not even BWV shirts but just DVC that I saw in many of the deluxe hotel shops.

So please Disney gives us back some of the charm and magic that has always been Disney to me. I know the world is changing, but if you want to keep empting my pockets at such an alarming rate give me something to show for it.

I want to add that I wish the Main Street Firehouse was still representing a firehouse. SOTMK should never have taken it's place.

Wondering that as well and also about the viewing deck at Contemporary.

I believe earlier in this thread it was mentioned that checking guests was due to the DVC construction at Poly, and that access to GF is unchanged.
