hi we were in universal in January 2012. We really loved it, and plan to go back.we know we want to ride our favorites: Simpsons, Jurassic, and also see the shrek show again.
There were few rides that are new that we want to ride. Transformers, Minion mayham and supper silly land. is there any other new ride or show besides these 3?

also, does anyone know if they have made any changes to the Studio Tour? When we were there they had the king-kong experience. the tour was nice, but we had to wait a very long time in line. so if there are no changes then I think we will skip and see other shows in universal. What shows would you recommend we see? 4 adults and 4 kids ages 4 - 11.

No additional rides besides those places you mentioned, but they're great.

Studio Tour is roughly the same, but sometimes the scenic route changes. When I went in March, we passed by Hill Valley (Back to the Future), and when I went in July, we passed by the giant green screen instead. They also moved the Delorean to the lower lot instead of being on the side in the Studio Tour. No real reason to skip the tour if you plan on staying for the majority of the day. There isn't that much to do. If you take the Tour at around 4/5, the wait time should be really short (10-20 minutes last I checked).

Shows that are cool to watch if it's been a while:
Water World
Animal Actors
Special Effects

Despicable Me should be the first thing you do when you arrive (hopefully at opening). Then the Simpsons. And then you can head to the lower-lot. After riding everything, you could head back up to watch the shows, go to Super Silly Fun Land, etc.

Not sure when you are going but if you go in spring or summer next year this will be new to you:

-Springfield

-Fast and Furious: Super Charged (Studio Tour). They closed the Dancing Cars attraction and demolished the spinning Mummy Tunnel and are building an all new attraction.

-Night Time Studio Tours

The studio tour is the cornerstone of the Universal Studios Hollywood experience. I personally would recommend going on it again, especially since no two tours are exactly alike. Trams take different routes depending on what parts of the lot are being used for filming so it's hard to say what you might have missed when you went.

I'd definitely check the wait times on your mobile device or on the boards. Wait times get much better in the late afternoon (before the tour closes), whereas they can be really busy early in the day.
