What has been your best Disney souvenir?

Hi there,

We're visiting Disneyland for the first time in September from New Zealand. I would like to take home a momento of our visit which will stand the test of time and not become one of those "What on earth possessed me to purchase this!" items. We often come home with mugs, plates and teddy bears (we are now completely over-run with the critters) and of course the regulatory tee-shirt which is rarely worn again...

What has been your most loved and treasured souvenir from Disneyland?

Thanks

First you gotta figure out if it is something you want to just look at or do you want something you can use. If it is something to just look at then you can get figurines; small ones, big ones (not too big else how ya gonna get em home), music boxes, art work etc... etc... Now if you want something you can use I'd suggest something like a watch, wallet, umbrella (any rain in NZ?), clothing (till disney fever wears off and you start to care about why people look at you funny), also household stuff like cookie cutters and Mickey waffle irons. I have all of the above... Go figure! :thumbsup2

Personally, I don't think you can beat a nice photo frame with a picture in from the holiday. I absolutely love browsing the frame section at World of Disney and then coming home and selecting which photos to frame up. We tend to get a few ride photo frames too (they're always so fun!) with pics of us enjoying our favourite rides. They have some really lovely frames at the Resort. We have frames everywhere around this house. They're lovely to look back at! :goodvibes So, that's my suggestion. Have a great first trip! :thumbsup2

Are you my wife??? :) My wife loves frames... problem is we don't have enough end tables, legdes and bookcases to display all the photos. We do have some nice 5x7 mickey frames though... :thumbsup2

I don't think so... :rotfl:

You can't beat a good frame. We do have to alternate now and then though - they do kind of take over after a while. :confused3 ;)

My favourite Disney souvenirs are pins (although no one really sees these as they are in my pin bag) and pieces of Disney artwork that I have on my wall.

I also love to display pictures I take and like others I have way too many so I bought a digital picture frame and I have put all my favourite photos onto that, it scrolls through the 300 pictures I have on it displaying each one for a minute, then it changes. I think though after my next Disney trip I might need to get a bigger memory card for it!!

Well you have to get ears!!

And I always get a magnet and antennae balls.

Picture frames are always good.

Last year I got DD a really cute charm bracelet with all the characters that she loves.

And I still wear my T-shirts! ;)

Honestly, my favorite so far has been my Mickey ears wine stopper. It makes me smile when I see it in a bottle of wine in my kitchen. Have fun!

thats easy the jacket my son bought me on my bday last year the pink pirates jacket. (I couldnt go to piaret island becouse the rain and i was mad and sad he bought that for me made me all happy.

(I also bought a cup when my son was just about a year and had wolves running on it and had my sons name, and what the name ment and a bunch of other things it was so cute and only 10dollers it was only thing i got them but I still have it in the kitchen)

My Walt Disney Pin and the Malifcent Crystal we bought on our last trip.

You can also get a crystal custom made with the familys shilouett (sp) you might even be able to have them put somthing like Disneyland and the date underneath them...a small one is only like 25.00 I think. course the text could cost extra not sure...

We haven't framed it yet (or figured out who gets the extra), but the very last thing we bought on our recent trip was a silhouette of our son. Hubby thinks it looks like him, I don't, but I know she was doing it based on him (to me it looks a touch too much like Christopher Robin, LOL) so it's nice.

I got a sweatshirt that I like very much (but you have to be careful b/c they'll shrink if you're not careful).

And I really don't wear them anywhere but Disney (I'll take them on any future trips to any Disney park we go to), but I bought the cutest Pooh ears on barrettes on our last trip. LOVE them. But they aren't for wearing outside the parks (even wearing them for the walk to the hotel on Harbor gets you odd looks). :rotfl:

I loooovvvvee my Pirates of the Caribbean t-shirt. I looked around carefully to find an adult size that says "Dead Men Tell No Tales" on it, and it's my favorite reminder of our first trip. Reason being, on our trip my kids started imitating that phrase all over the park, in deep, dark, menacing tones... but then they made up their own endless variations. So we got some pretty funny looks while waiting in line at Splash Mountain, and all three of my kids are taking turns moaning things like, "Dead men smell no pails.... dead men eat no snails... dead men hoist no sails... "

I started collecting the antenna toppers several years ago. Problem is, I bought a car a couple of years ago that doesn't have an antenna. My husband now gets to enjoy all of the different toppers that I have bought over the years.

I also like to buy a frame each trip we take. They are all over our family room and I love looking at the pictures each day!!! Can't get too much Disney!!! :thumbsup2

I too collect antenna balls and I too do not have any cars with antennas. Instead, I line them up on top of my TV set. I change them out for the holidays. I love seeing them everytime I watch TV.

You know you can get little springy things that you can stick to your dash (or wherever) and still enjoy the antenna toppers in the car. My car has an antenna but I don't like putting my toppers on it incase they get stolen - which happens quite a lot near where I live - esp. in car parks. So, I display mine on my dash and have about 10 different toppers in the glovebox so I can switch them. :goodvibes

Pins are my major weakness. I must have spent hundreds of dollars on them on our 2006 trip alone. I buy a bag our first day there, and by the end of the holiday, it's full... :rotfl:

Definately LOVED the wine stopper idea!! Perfect! And yes, the photo frame is mandatory, I forgot about that one.

Can you tell me more about the cystal thingee. What's that? And the silhouette? I have always wanted to get a characature drawn of my kids - is there somewhere to get this done?

Thanks again.

:figment: If you guys like to scrap book i would do that. iknow when i go on a trip i like to collect little things on top of pictures it is like the best of the two world souviners and pictures in one place :dogdance:

I have a friend who always gets Christmas ornaments as she travels. That way they are on display for a few weeks each year, and your family has fun remembering the trips you took to different places as you take the ornaments out again at Christmastime. And it's not "shelf clutter."

I got a Mickey tattoo on my neck, thats my most important thing I have
