What has been your best bargain or adventure on the WESTERN?

Renting a VW Safari (aka "The Thing" for $30 (insurance included)) and touring Cozumel on your own. The cars have Mexican "character" if you get the drift.

Head to Dzul Ha (FREE) for the best off shore snorkeling on the island, but you will need buy a few $1 beers (or if Ice cream is your poison) to keep the natives happy.

After a several hours of snorkeling, drive to the East side and enjoy the scenery and a choice of several stops for good food. On the way back to the rental (around 5:30 P.M.), put $5 of gas in the car and tour / shop downtown (there's parking on the streets), for about an hour or so. If you have late seating, you can get the car back by 6:00 - 6:30, plenty of time to walk to the ship and get ready for Mexicalli Night!

2nd Best bargain - Try Nativeway in Grand Cayman for Stingray City.

Smaller boats (only about 15 - 20 persons per boat - what if you need to use the head, with some of the cattle barges that are outthere?), nice boats (Key West diving hulls), and good equipment supplied. Also think about shade! Because of the smaller party, you will usually get to the bar first (more enthusiastic stingray feeding) and also have better anchorage (read shallower water) before the masses get there on the ship-organized excursions.

Price - $25 per person (adults), 6 and under FREE. If adults do not go in the water (like Pops), it's only $10 for the ride. You pay on the boat (they take credit cards), no reservation deposit. They will pick you up at the Tender Pier, and drop you off back at the pier or 7-mile beach (your choice).

Eagle Ray Divers! We did a snorkel trip with them! 6 hours, 3 reefs, small boat (max 12 people) including a wonderful lunch and pleanty of cold beverages. $60 adults $30. for kids!
The divers paid a bit more, $90 for a 2 tank dive with lunch.
It was a fantastic day. We WILL do it again if/when we return to Cozumel!
For more details look for my trip report!

All of our excursions on the Western were really good this summer! We did the kayak tour in Key West, the stingray ray tour in Cayman and the Fury Catarmaran in Cozumel..all were really fun and highly recommended!

On our Western, we could not go to Grand Cayman so we went to Costa Maya instead and really liked it. We would love to go back. What a great area. Very tropical, clean and entertaining. Good shopping, good entertainment, beach, interesting excursions, etc. They even provide free transportation on the pier from the ship and back.

Begin with getting a package filled with lots of stuff on Key West including a map just in case you need directions for anything you wish to do there - it is also filled with coupsons and freebies - you just need to send a Large manilla, self addressed envelope with about $3.75 worth of stamps attached to me - I fill it up and return it back to you - it really is worth the money for it gives you a lot of real insight to Key West -
If I can help further, just let me know
Always

Everyone has been very helpful!!!!

Great tips-----

Shirley, I will get an envelope out to you in the next week. Thanks!
I'm hoping Kiko's Sandal shop will be opened when we are docked. I've heard they are closed on Sunday, but open when the ships are docked. Do you know?

To everyone else, each excursion sounds like a great time!! It will be hard to choose.

Has anyone had good/bad experiences with the jeep excursions and Chaukanaab Park?

Thanks,
Debbie
