What happens when max attendance numbers reached?

Hi there--we've never been to DLR when the park has reached capacity.

We are going during Columbus Day weekend, the park is open until midnight.

We are planning on taking a break mid day. When you exit the park do they stamp your hand so you can be assured of getting back in?

Thanks so much!!!

I wouldn't worry, even though it will have higher attendance than usual it won't hit the max on that weekend.

No worries on closure for that weekend. Just gets busier.

If capacity is reached, its usually during mid-late afternoon and only for a few hours. Once a certain amount of people leave the park, then they will start letting people back in. It is "possible" for you to come back with a hand stamp and NOT be let back in but I wouldn't worry too much for that day. You can always head over to DCA until DLR crowds dissipate if you do find yourself in that situation.

Good question. I was wondering the same thing. We will be there the week between Christmas and New Year's and I know it will be super busy. So for the people who have been there at that time, will we have problems getting back into the park after taking an afternoon break? Has this happened to you?

You always have to get your hand stamped when you leave the park if you plan to return. The park has different levels of closure...first they stop selling one day tickets, then they stop letting in new enterances (people who had not been in the park that day), then they stop allowing re-admittance until enough people have left park.

Make sure you get your hand stamped before leaving the park. Most CM will remind you on your way out.

Last year during october, as we were leaving the park, one CM told us they have reach full capacity and that unless we had our hands stamped, we will not be let in again. Some people were waiting in stand-by outside. Really crazy!! :scared1:

Appreciate it, esp the comments about DLR not reaching capacity this weekend. I have three excited kids so that is good news to us!

If I remember correctly, a few times. Although, with the possible exception of Halloween, I think I remember that they never actually did stop admitting guests. They were preparing to do so, but it never actually got to the point of happening. Memory could be off, but that's what I am recalling.

yikes! i hope crowds are not that bad when i go in 2 weeks!
but i am preparing for it, just in case!

Last year DL did reach capacity on the Friday night of that weekend. Only those with handstamps were being allowed back in. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2305260&highlight=park+closed+today

Sounds like the Trick-or-Treat party being in DCA that night had a lot to do with it. With the Trick-or-Treat parties being in DL instead of DCA this year, though, it's hard to predict how it's going to go.

Just be sure to get your hand stamped!

thanks! :thumbsup2
i will only be there sat & sun
but i can imagine how having the party in DL this year would really change usual crowd patterns!
I'm just so excited to go!

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if DL was close to being closed due to maximum attendence you couldn't PAY me to go back in!

:rotfl: I'm laughing but have been the crazy person there when the park was at capacity. Every Christmas I get so aggrivated with the crowds, yet we return the next.

Not sure about the exact day, but we were there from oct. 11th 'til the 15th.

I agree, I don't enjoy crowds, not one little bit.
