Note, I did not have to complain. They were automatically issuing anyone in line a ticket to either Thursday's or Friday's party after they cancelled the 12/2 evening parade and shows.

My advice, if you are at the party and they cancel the parade due to rain, immediately get in line at guest services.

Even at a "sell out" party, the lines for rides and characters were short (except for the biggies). However, we got in line at 11:45 for mine train and only waited 15 minutes with a 30 minute posted wait time.

So how did you know about the free ticket thing? I did not hear anyone mention it at all so had no idea it was an option.

When I saw the huge line, I asked someone in line what are you waiting for? They said a rain check. So, I immediately got in line.

There was no official announcement. The old rule of thumb, "it never hurts to ask".
