What happens when I pull up?

We will be checking in on Sunday to AKL....and I was wondering how the process works. At Pop we had to park, get out and go check in. I was hoping we could pull right up to AKL and leave our car or maybe hand off our bags??? and then go inside and check in.
What is the process?

You'll be at a DELUXE resort! that's exactely what you'll be able to do!

Upon entering the resort...you will be greeted by a security guard.

He / She will ask you your name and ask for an ID. They have a print out of who is checking in for that day.

Then you proceed to do whatever you wish. Park you car and take your luggage OR park your car...go check in ...and the CM will give you a map of where your room is.

Then back to your car and drive to your " parking lot."

are there porters when you arrive? can I leave my bags even though I won't be checked in yet?

Yes you can leave your bags even if you have not checked in yet.

To add to this: once the security guard confirms you are checking in that day, they will give you a parking pass good for the length of your stay (and which can also be used to be able to park free at the parks, should you elect to drive to one, rather than use Disney transportation).

Also, once you have unloaded your bags, you can have the valet park the car (for $6.00/day) rather than having to park it yourself.

By the way, I love the drive up to AKL. If I remember correctly, you pass AK before you can see the lodge off in the distance. It just creates a great feeling of anticipation to get that glimpse before you actually arrive.

When you arrive at the front of the logde you will be stopping at the main entrance. You have a few choices depending on how much money you would like to spend. You can stop, unload your car and take your own bags inside to the check in area. You can either park your own car or let valet do it for you. You also could let bell service keep your bags for you and they will deliver them to your room once you call them from your room. They are located right at the main entrance. The choice is really up to you. This is a beautiful hotel and I am sure you will enjoy it.
