I found that if you change your
MDE credit card information after you make ADRs the system doesn't update those ADRs with the new credit card information.
Here's my experience ---
I have a Disney Visa card that I only use for Disney trips. This is the card in my MDE profile.
September 2015 - I used that card to pay our 2016 package deposit.
February 2016 - I made our ADRs online and guaranteed them with that card.
April 2016 - I was going to make a payment on my package and my Disney Visa was declined. I called Chase and it turns out back in November 2015 they had sent me chip enabled cards but I never received them so they were never activated. Chase had to cancel my Disney Visa and reissue a new number. When I got my new card I entered the new information in my MDE profile.
August 2016 - I made one additional ADR online after the card in my MDE profile was updated. We went on our trip and the resort had my new Disney Visa number on file so that is what we used for shopping/dining charges to the room.
Here's what happened with ADR cancellations during our trip ---
1 - We had a dinner ADR that I called and cancelled the same day because 2 people in our party were not feeling well. I asked the CM if they could waive the $10/person fee and she did.
2 - We had a lunch ADR that we decided not to do since we were still full from breakfast. I didn't want to push my luck and call to ask the fee to be waived again so instead I went on the MDE App and modified the reservation to only 1 person instead of 4 people. Then I cancelled it on the MDE App. This was the ADR that I had made
after MDE was updated with my new Disney Visa number. There was a $10 charge on my new Disney Visa for this cancellation.
3 - We had a dinner ADR that we decided not to do. I tried to do what I did in #2 above but the MDE App gave me a message that I had to call to modify the reservation. Ok Disney, you figured me out. I just decided to let it go and pay the $10/person charge ($40). This was an ADR that I made
before MDE was updated with my new Disney Visa number. There was no charge on my new Disney Visa for this cancellation. So, this ADR obviously had my old Disney Visa number linked to it.
So there ya go! And, yeah, we had a hard time with ADRs this trip. I don't think we've ever cancelled ADRs before but had so many this trip!
