What happens to Magic Bands if you cancel?

We were set to arrive sunday but have cancelled due to the hurricane. We are rebooking for next year but what happens with the Magic Bands we have now? Can we use them next trip or do they have to send you new ones each trip?

If you book onsite for next year, you will have the option of receiving new Magic Bands. You can also decline those MB's if you wish. Both sets will work.

Great! Seemed like such a waste to have to get new ones when he didnt even use these. If they are linked to my account now will it automatically link them to new reservations or will I have to link them?

As long as you can see the Magic Bands listed as active in your MDE account then they will automatically link to your tickets and all of your future reservations, resort as well as ADR's and fastpasses. You won't have to link them yourself.

You have a pretty bracelet to wear

They do send new ones for every resort booking. Though you can keep and use the ones you have now too, if you want. Get different colors.

Just kidding, the RFID chip is good inside them for about 3 years.

Only half true.

There are 2 RFID chips in each band - one passive and one (long-range) powered. Only the long-range chip uses the battery. Batteries are purported to last about 3 years. The only function the long-range chip is needed for is for the ride photos on a few of the rides (7DMT for instance).

All the important functions - opening room doors, tickets, FP+, charging, PhotoPass, etc. will theoretically work forever since that chip is powered by touching the band to the Mickey Head on a tapstyle or POS terminal. No battery required.

Gotcha! Thanks. I might just let them mail me new ones then just to be on the safe side for the batteries. We stayed off site last time and this weekend was supposed to be our first on site trip so we're newbies to the Magic Bands and all.

You can keep the ones you have, they will still work for any future trips. You will also be able to customize new ones for your next trip...or you can decline them if you wish. There's no problem having lots of bands associated with your account, and it's fun to change them to coordinate with your outfits.

Good to know! It's just too bad they don't sell the battery replacement. Even if you HAD to have THEM do it as a paid service at a kiosk... If I pay for a personalized MB, I don't want it to run out of battery power that can't be renewed...
