What happens to canceled banked point?

Here the situation.

I have two Feb UY contracts one is 160 bought from Disney
The other is an add on of 50 points with Feb UY contract not bought from Disney

I currently have a reservation for Feb 2012 at VWL using 68 banked points from our 160 point contract bought from Disney. The banked points are from 2011 UY. What I want to do is cancel this reservation and rebook the same visit Feb 2012 visit but use the banked points from the contract not bought from Disney. So basically want to rebook my current 2012 Feb dates but use the Feb UY banked 2011 points from the contract not bought from Disney.

My question is if I cancel tomorrow will those points go back as banked point? I am not familiar with the cancelation policy of banked point.

I know that our reservation is for 68 point but our contract is only for 50 points but will I be allowed to use 18 of the 160 points to make this reservation??

I want to do this so we can book the SS members cruise using 160 point contract.
Hope this make sense.

If you banked 2011 points into your 2012 use year for that original reservation, those banked points will need to be used for a stay that occurs between Feb. 1,2012 and January 31, 2013. If you cancel the reservation for Feb. and plan to book for a trip that happens before Feb. 1, 2012, you would have to borrow points from your 2012 use year.

Since I assume you are talking about the January cruise, you would be able to book that using current 2011 points that were not banked, and borrowed 2012 points.

MS will probably be able to reallocate the points from one contract to the other. Otherwise any cancellation, as long as it is further than 31 days out, will put the points used back into the UY they were taken from. ie, in this case you banked 2011 points into 2012 so that is where they will go back into your 2012 UY. Assuming that both your contracts are under one membership then there won't be a problem using 12 points from the 160 points contract also.

Since the member cruises will be in your 2012 UY you can use any remaining banked 2011 points, current 2012 points and borrow 2013 points if needed.

If your resale contract was purchased prior to Mar 21, 2011 then you don't need to go thru this exercise and could use points from both contracts to book the member cruise.

As long as you cancel the Feb 2012 reservation at least 31 days in advance, the points will go back in to your account just as they are in the reservation. So, if they were banked points when you booked, they will still be banked points if you cancel.

When you go to make the Feb 2012 reservation again, just remind MS that you want to use all the banked points in your contracts and they should use those up first. And, yes, they will complete the reservation with points from the other contract.

We have 180 BLT points, June UY, but in two contracts--130 and 50. They function as one big one, but remain separate.

Now, before you do this, I would ask MS if there is a way to reallocate the banked points from the 50 points contract to the reservation without having to cancel/rebook. I have heard they will do this, but there was a thread last week in which this was not an automatic and cancellation/rebooking was needed.

The only thing is that any of those banked points you are currently using from the 160 point contract that still remain after you re-book with the other banked points, will still need to be used up prior to January 31st, 2013.

Good luck!
