What happens to banked pts if waitlist comes through?

Hi..figured my Disboards friends would be more likely to give me the correct answer on this than MS. I've played MS roulette before, where every time I called I got a different person and a different answer, and didn't trust any of them as accurate!

We have two nights booked in a Treehouse in October. I am waitlisted for a third night there, but have a confirmed reservation at VWL as my "back up" for the same night (funny to think of my favorite resort as a "back up"). I have a December use year, so need to bank my points by July 31. If I bank all the points we have left after covering the October 2 nights Treehouse and 1 night VWL reservation and the Treehouse waitlist comes through, what will happen? Will MS borrow them from the next year? Or will they just cancel the Treehouse reservation because I don't have enough points for it? At this point, I'm ok with keeping my VWL reservation and canceling the waitlist, especially if it would avoid an ugly mishap whereby I'd lose points, but I would like to know. If anyone has experienced this before and can enlighten me, I'd be grateful.

I believe they will just borrow from the next UY. That is what has happened to me, but I wasn't dealing with banked points, just borrowed ones.

MS will borrow the needed points from the 2009 UY. Your 2008 UY points will remain banked, as banking is a final transaction.

They would have to borrow but I have always been asked if it would be ok. If you haven't designated if it's ok or not they may end up calling you if it matches to see if it's ok. You may want to call and have them note what you would like to happen on your waitlist.

You would need to call MS and ask the CM to note on the waitlist for the THV that it is OK to borrow if the waitlist comes through. MS is not supposed to borrow unless the member gives an OK.

It is possible that someone might call you if the waitlist coms through, but it is also very possible that they will not. You might lose the opportunity to get the 3rd night.
