Since the Magic appears to be going through DryDock in the two weeks before our Cruise, I am curious as to what happens while they are in dry dock?

Anyone know?

I live in Northern VA, so I think they should let me and my family drive to VA beach to meet the ship and ride on it back down to Port Canaveral for my sailing! Hehehe. Yeah, I know....Wishful thinking......

Dry dock is required to maintain running gear (propellers, struts, rudders, stabilizers) and maintain below the waterline hull integrity (remove corrosion, add fresh paint).

The time in drydock is aslo used for refitting, such as the changes done to the Magic Fall 2003 (ESPN became Stacks, etc.)

THere were some pic posted last year while the Magic was in drydock. They LIFT her up and OUT of the water. They inspect, repair and paint her undersides and check out all of the mechanics of the ship. They also do any major remodeling and repairs (like reparing the smoke stack from the fire a year or so ago). They do a thorough cleaning and inventory. Stuff that's kinda hard to do in the 3 hours that guests are not on the ship.
