What Happens Now... Upcoming Cruises

I am not set to sail until the 23rd (3 night Wonder - part of land/sea), however I am assuming there will be considerable amount of damage to Castaway Cay and Nassau. Any word on when they will make an announcement how this affects upcoming voyages.

Does anyone know if they will continue making 3 day cruises a cruise to nowhere until they get things cleaned up and back on track or is there another destination they can do on a 3 day cruise.

I have been saving and planning this trip for 8 months now and my 7 year old son is incredibly excited and had many shore excursions planned. This is our first family vacation and I wanted it to be special and want to start working in alternative plans as soon as possible since it is now only 2 weeks out until we leave.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think it's way too early to even speculate at this point. I'm sure DCL has their hands full arranging the current and next sailings, and then comes the need to see how damaged the entire Bahama chain is before reaching a final decision.

I'm sure they have several possible scenerios, but need to gather more accurate assessments once the storm has passed.

I would imagine that we'll know this by early to mid week.

First, the storm must pass. It looks like the eye of the storm is very near CC right now. And with the size of the storm system, CC will probably be experiencing Tropical Storm conditions for 2 more days. It would be pretty difficult to travel to the island and really assess the damage until those Tropical Storm conditions have passed, I would think.

So it would seem that Sunday or Monday would probably be the *earliest* that Disney could get engineers and other staff to the island to begin to assess the damage.

We'll all just have to sit back and see how long it takes Frances to move past the Bahamas and Florida.

The current word on the DCL website is basically asking us to just be patient and let them deal with people who are scheduled to sail this weekend. It will be several days before they can even evaluate CC to see what needs to be done.

In my experience, Disney has always been very fair in waiving re-booking fees, no show fees (late cancelation fees) when something like this has happened. My guess is that they will offer you a chance to rebook on a later cruise if you are unhappy with what they can offer. HOwever....on your cruise contract, it does say that they are not responsible for weather, etc...and such emergencies don't obligate them to do anything.

At present, they are offering a full refund or rebooking for anyone who doesn't want the offer they've made for people scheduled to cruise this weekend. Details of that offer are on their web site.

I don't have any answers, but I can surely sympathize. DH and I booked our 9/25 cruise right when 04 dates were released, so we have been looking forward to this trip for EVER it seems. Plus, we added on WDW before and more cruising after. The best everyone can do it be flexible, realize it may not go off "exactly" as imagined or planned, but from everything I have read DCL does the best to make up for it. (Remember, it isn't DCL's fault, too!) It kills me because I am a serious planner! But, even if you don't get to do a particular excursion, I bet DCL will do the best they can to inform you on options if your ports are changed. Lastly, remember you are still on a wonderful family vacation, and you will enjoy it just the same!

(Just for the record, I have whole other west coast destinations planned incase Ivan gets nasty! DLR, here we come!!!! I will have Disney one way or the other!!!)

Will someone help me? My family is on the 9/9 Wonder and I too am curious about our cruise. Everytime I go to the disneycruise web site a pop-up comes up and says,

I know from reading this board that there have been other updates. How do I see them? I have hit the refresh button many times and still the same thing. HELP!

My co-worker is scheduled for the 9/9 sailing on Wonder. Can someone please give me the number she needs to call in order to reschedule her cruise?? She does not want to go considering the conditions of the islands....

I'm set to go to WDW, 9/11-9/19...i'm thinking of rescheduling myself, I really don't want to take my children, when there will be thunderstorms and rain...just a depressing situations.

I'm kinda of having mixed feelings though, we've planned for so long, a couple of thunderstorms wouldn't hurt???

Here's the current popup--posted below. It would help to dump your internet temp files--click tools>internet options>temporary files>delete files and then check offline content. Then close IE (and perhaps reboot.) This will hopefully resolve the refresh issue for you.

Due to the impact of Hurricane Frances, we have made the following modifications to our itineraries for upcoming sailings:

Disney Magic
The August 28, 7-night Western Caribbean sailing will be extended by two nights, arriving in Port Canaveral on Monday, September 6 at 11 am.

The 7-night Eastern Caribbean sailing, scheduled for September 4, will be shortened two nights, departing on Monday, September 6 at 6 pm from Port Canaveral and arriving back as scheduled on Saturday, September 11. To avoid the effects of Hurricane Frances, we will be sailing a modified Western Caribbean itinerary.

Disney Wonder
The September 2, 3-night Bahamas sailing will be extended one night, returning to Port Canaveral on Monday, September 6 at 6 am. Since it is unlikely that our scheduled calls to Castaway Cay and Nassau will be possible, they will be replaced with a Saturday, September 4 call to Cozumel, Mexico.

The 4-night Bahamas sailing scheduled for September 5 will be delayed and shortened one night, departing on Monday, September 6 at 6 pm from Port Canaveral, arriving back as scheduled on Thursday, September 9. Since it is unlikely that our scheduled calls to Castaway Cay and Nassau will be possible, guests will enjoy two days at sea, a safe distance from the effects of Hurricane Frances.

Guests sailing on these modified itineraries have been contacted or are in the process of being contacted by our reservations staff. Fares for the shortened cruises will be discounted, and guests will be offered special incentives for sailing.

We appreciate all of our guests’ patience as we respond to the unavoidable circumstances created by Hurricane Frances.

My DLR plan is the WORST CASE SCENERIO plan, meaning if DCL just doesn't sail kinda thing. I carefully re-read my insurance docs carefully to make sure it would be covered....it says something like "complete cessation of service for 24 hours....blah..." I figure they have a way to sail under most conditons, but like I said, I am a planner, so why not just have that W.C.S. plan. Geez, Geraldo is on the beach reporting for Fox news looking like he's about to get blown over!
