What happens if your kid wets the bed?

Ok so we have a 27 month old and she is very good at not wetting the bed however we have only been going without a diaper overnight for a couple of weeks. We are in the world on October 28th for a week and I was wondering how Disney handles it if your child happens to wet the bed while they are there? Do they have anything available to protect the matress? Is there a cleaning fee or do they just do it

Unfortunately, I can answer this question....

Our DD5 fell asleep after a long Disney day before she had the chance to go potty. She NEVER wets the bed, but of course, at Disney, it happens.

The mattresses do have protection on it and we called housekeeping and brought up new sheets for us. They even offered to change the bed at 2 am...we declined, feeling bad enough that we were calling in the middle of the night...but they were great.

We tipped our Mousekeeper extra the next morning, since she had to deal with the pile of wet sheets....

When my kids were at that stage I used pull-ups when we traveled for long car or plane rides, and for sleeping at Grandma's house or at a hotel. I'm sure the hotels can handle it, but you wouldn't want urine in the mattress. It doesn't really come out completely.

If you are not comfortable with putting your child in a pull-up for the night, you can also find crib-sized mattress protectors (they are thin, with flannel on one side and rubberized on the other). You can put that between the sheet and the mattress so at least it's just a sheet change and not a full-on production in the middle of the night.

We had the same experience with our then 4 yo. Housekeeping was great about cleaning everything up.

Your post reminds me of my first trip to Maui, HI with my kids. We were staying at the Wailea Beach Marriot Resort. The rooms looked immaculate with beautiful all white bedding. Our second night of the trip both my kids got the stomach flu. We'd had Mexican food for dinner and it ended up all over that white bedding. We called the front desk at 2:00 AM and a whole crew in hazmat suits came to clean up the room. It was quite a production. We tipped extra as well. I think good hotels are prepared for anything!

This! We used these all the time when at home & travelling, during potty training. They are fairly small so you can just change that if the child wets the bed, rather than having to change all the bedding, or calling housekeeping to come do it. They aren't that expensive either - when we travelled if one got wet wet just threw it away rather than having to deal with either having housekeeping take it to wash, or having to rinse it in the sink & take it home in luggage.

I actually kept using these after the kids were potty trained - for the exact reason someone else mentioned - stomach bugs! I'd put them under them when they were sick, so that I could just throw that away if they got sick in bed, and the mattress would be protected.

While DS was working out his potty-learning, we had a bed protector under him. It was fabric backed with a waterproof layer, with fleece on top. I put it under the sheet, because otherwise it moved all around as he moved. He actually figured out nighttimes first, but it was still good insurance for the just in case moments. So we just used that when traveling.

I have been known to cut the sides of a large garbage bag and put it under the pad when I didn't have anything. Sometimes 2. Its better than nothing! Easy to pack! If just your sheets and pad is wet that wouldn't be so bad but if the mattress gets wet I don't know what you would do. I personally would put the pull ups on my child for vacation, especially one that young. They ususally get very tired at Disney and sleep a little more sound.

We tried to avoid the pullups at that age too. We haven't yet had to worry about hotel beds, but for long car trips we bought a package of puppy training pads from Walmart. They were much cheaper than the disposable pads they sell for potty training and we'd use them to protect the carseat in case the child dozed off in the car. I think they'd be a good size to protect the bed if you put it under the mattress.

I would bring some big garbage bags and some towels. I would put the plastic bag right on the bed and cover it with a towel. If there is any accident, all you have to do is change the towel and the plastic bag. No need to call anyone at 2am or change the bed sheets. It does help if the child is wearing pull-ups.

not sure where you live but wal mart or Meijers has flannel backed rubber mattress protectors they come two to a package and each one is for a crib mattress but if you lay them over lapping is fine for a double or queen bed and it protects the mattress and gives you peice of miond. and takes little time to throw then in washer and dry quickly. has been a while since I got them but were like $7 think it was (make sure they for the crib size as they also have smaller ones for shoulder or lap burping) One thing my cousin uses is they are for bed bound elderly so can find them that way or they also called potty pads for puppies they are a plastic with a thin layer of flannel on top and usually are blue on the plastic part. she takes them with her to use in the car seat and then if one gets wet she just throws them away as these you cannot wash.

You can go to the Dollar Store and pick up a couple of shower curtain sheets. I feel the entire bed should be covered, because children move around so much when they sleep.
You will have to unmake the bed, total time at most 10 minutes, but think of the peace of mind.

We actually had a really upsetting experience with this at Pop Century. It was in 2010. My son accidently wet the bed one morning right before he got out of bed.

I hurried and pulled all of the sheets off the bed to try to keep the mattress from getting soaked. But it did get on the mattress. There wasn't any form of protection down on the bed.

I called mousekeeping and they acted like they didn't know what to do. A few minutes later someone knocked on our door. They came in, looked at the mattress and left. Didn't take any of the wet linens or anything. We still had no idea what to do.

So I called them again. They told me they were having to bring in a new mattress. I was so shocked.

So we left, and went to Magic Kingdom. We were gone until about 2:00. it was time to back for a nap for my younger son. When we arrived back at the room, our room hadn't been touched. Same wet linens, same wet mattress, etc.

I called again. It took another hour and then someone came to get the mattress and delivery a new one. It was insane. Then someone came down to make up the bed with clean sheets.

My son didn't get his nap b/c of the whole ordeal and my oldest son was so embarrassed.

so now, I bring a crib/lap pad to put under my kids when the are asleep.

Depends brand has disposable protectors. They are smaller than a crib mattress but we use them for diaper changes on the go and for protecting bedding while traveling. They aren't very expensive for how many you get and I love that I can throw them away.

I had it all planned out that I would potty train my 2 year old AFTER we got back from Disney but he has decided that we need to start NOW. Don't our kids know that when it comes to Disney - everyone needs to follow the plan!? We'll see where we're at with it in 48 days but we'll likely be going the pull-up route since it's so new. And I'd rather have some protection on the plane. We didn't use pull ups with #1 but I think it will be necessary for our trip.

Thanks for the input, we will probobly just go the towel and garbage bag route since it doesnt require going out to hunt for anything. Our daughter is pretty good though even at 27 months she sleeps without wetting the bed at home, one night she had to pee in the middle of the night apparantly because when I woke up and went to see her she was naked on her bed reading a book to her dolls and I asked her why she was naked, she said she peed and I felt her bed (which was dry) asked her if she peed in her bed and she said no she peed by the door where I found her wet sleeper that she had taken off in the middle of the night since she couldnt get out of her room...we dont have carpet so it wasnt a huge deal but I just wondered how people handled it at disney

I find it hard to believe that hotels, especially WDW, wouldn't use waterproof mattress covers on all the beds.

IMO, if the OP is asking what happens if their kids wets the bed, then OP is thinking there is small chance for this to happen ( I would say with any 27 month old a good chance). I can/will not speak for the OP, but this is how i am reading into it.

IMO, (sorry if this is too opinionated , if there is any, any slight chance, anyone thinks their kid might wet the bed PLEASE for the sake of next guests and the hotel staff either get your kid a diaper/pull up or bring a matteress protector.

At 27 months there is no way I wouldnt put my kid in a bed that wasnt mine and expect that an accident will not happen. I would plan for this. Accidents happen, even with 5 and 6 year olds.. ESPECIALLY if its been a long day. some kids might just be too exhausted for their bodies to realize hey wake up and go potty. And I know with our kids, those never empty resort cups always were being downed and what come in, will come out.
