What happens if your kid freaks out at BBB?

My ODD wants, desperately, to do BBB. Her five year old sister is wishy washy about it. I know I have to book it soon, if I'm even able too. I'm concerned it's already full. Anyway, I have this terrible feeling that if I don't book for the YDD, she'll freak that she doesn't get to do it. But I'm also concerned if I do book her an appointment, she'll freak out when we get there and refuse to participate. So how does BBB handle that? Surely my child won't be the first to show up and get stage fright. Do you get a refund? I'm about to call and I'm pretty sure you have to prepay.

Thanks!

I am not sure about a refund but I will tell you, our just turned 4 DD was soo tired at her 4pm appt in MK. She was yawning & bobbing her head w/her eyes closed in the salon chair-I thought I would have to take her out of there & the experience was ruined because she was getting annoyed about not being able to sleep. But, 3 Fairy Godmothers were sooooo Great with her - woke her up & moved it along-1 talked to her to calm her down- 1 did her nails & the other did her really long hair(past her butt) in a bun. The salon was very busy but they were good so good Dh gave them nice big tips! And he never tips!
I think they will be good with her , plus she may be fine seeing all the other girls doing it.

I'm going to make appts for my dd's to do it, I know my 4y/o will do it just fine, my 3y/o I'm not as confident about but I know she would be sooo upset if she gets there and is not allowed to do it...so she will have an appt too and we will hope for the best.

I know you need to give a cc# but I am not sure of the time frame to cancel-nothing is charged to your cc until the appt or you pay another way. I just called this week to book for our next trip.

My friend's 3yr old had a meltdown in the middle of the hair styling, she was crying saying it was hurting and didn't want to do it anymore. They stopped and told my friend that she still had to pay for the appt, and they gave her the gift bag with the crown, hairclip, makeup palette and nail polish. So if you go into it expecting that you will have to pay regardless then go for it.

I believe 2 years ago when we went, the younger child age 6ish decided she didn't want to do it, she had a cold. I just told them she wasn't coming, they didn't charge that family anything. DD got her glamorizing done and we were off. While we where there a gentleman from overseas was REALLY trying to get his daughter an appt. CM refused, stating you HAD to have an appt (this was at the castle). Gentleman tried well we are from far away, CM replied many of all the princesses are, and all of the princesses are special but you had to make the prior ressie.

I should have made my call for a reservation before posting this thread. I found out that all you have to do is guarantee it with a credit card. If you do not show, it's a $10 per child fee. So if my little one is freaking prior to going, we'll call to cancel that day and be out $10. (I'm surprised it's not more) So that worked out good!

Now, since another mom mentioned her little one complaining that it hurt, I'm wondering if they use any type of conditioner on the kids' hair. I was also surprised they ask you to bring your own brush. Funny that this is our 10th trip and we're still having first experiences.

Our CM making the reservations was great. She was able to coordinate our BBB appointment with breakfast at CRT. Anyone else remember when you had to call 180 days out at 7:00 AM on the dot to get CRT and a few other restaurants? How is it that my trip is a mere 90ish days out and I have many CRT options. The only restaurant I'm seeing as pretty much booked during our two weeks is Le Cellier, which isn't a biggie because I'm a little tired of it. Interesting. Is it a sign of the crummy economy?

I think the only thing they used in DD's hair was water. She freaked, it hurt, she hated it and to this day refuses to go back. I did have to pay for a full "treatment" even though she did not even get 1/2.

My kids went twice and never compained of it hurting at all, in fact they were all smiles the whole time. I'm not saying you can't have a bad FGMiT, but I wouldn't assume you will. Ours have all been great (we have had 5 of them over the 2 visits.)

It was for sure the highlight of our DDs trips (and mine!)

They didn't ask us to bring our own brush, and we are going in hte next few weeks. Has something changed? I want to be sure to bring one if it is required!

For some reason they usually tell you to bring a brush when you make the appt, but they never use it. They have their own combs they use, and then you get to keep that comb. They might ask for your own comb if you have really long tangly hair though, just because the combs they use might not work as well for that.

My dd did BBB twice on our last trip and loved it both times. She ALWAYS complains when I comb her hair, but she never onced complained about it hurting. She wore it up for about 2 days after her appts before she would let me take it down. If it hurt, I doubt she would have kept it in that long. Most of The FGIT we saw were pretty gentle and constanly were asking if it felt okay.

OP did u post this ? previously? It looks familiar but I may have seen it on another forum here on the Dis. :)

We did BBB in DLR. I did reserve our spot with a cc and we all had the experience. We were not told ro bring our own brushes or combs and they did have ones they used on us, we were given those brushes/combs at the end of our makeovers. they used gel on our hair, lots and lots and lots of gel. DD10s (she was then 9) stayed in for 3 days and would have stayed longer if I hadn't made her take it out.

Both times we were told to bring brushes and both times they used them, and also their combs, but my kids have very long and thick hair.

Also, both times my girls went on Thanksgiving morning (first appointment of the day,) and we didn't take their hair out till the night before we left on Saturday night (to get clean hair to go home in.) So it lasts! And we have photos from Thursday getting it done, to CRT on Friday and Akerhaus on Saturday and the hair still looks great. A little extra hairspray to hold it in place is all, and we popped back into the BBB for a new sprinkly of glitter (they offered.)

when my dd was in BBB there was a little girl, I'm guessing just turned 3, and she was crying and really not wanting to sit down. The FGIT was great and went and got another FGIT who arrived with some books and sat down and read her some princess stories. The little girl was even allowed to sit on her mums knee to get her hair done

This year will be my daughters first time with both BBB, for the 4yr old and PL for they 11yr old and I want to make sure we're on the up and up. We were told to bring our own brushes but that will only apply to the younger one for my oldest will have her hair braided, besides during the PL they don't do their hair they only put a bandanna on her. My youngest is bi-racial and takes after my husband who is Asian so she has very long and curly hair. I plan to buy her a new brush just for our trip, we've seen one with disney characters on it and everything.

Now after saying all of that I noticed you mentioned tipping. I wasn't aware that was an option. So many Disney CM aren't allowed to take a tip, however if this is one job where tipping is not only welcomed but expected I wanted to know ahead of time. How, much do people normally tip their FGIT?

I didn't, but I'm bettering this is one of *those* questions that gets asked a million times. I'm thinking it's along the same lines of "how old is too old for a stroller". LOL

Oh and now I'm wondering about tipping too! Anyone know if it's allowed/expected at BBB?

I am looking to book this for my girls as well when we finally get out there. My older dd constantly struggles with tangles and hates her hair brushed (takes after her mom...oops!) but doesn't mind when getting her hair done. Does BBB have detangler spray onsite or should I just plan on bringing some in addition to bringing brushes?
