What happens if I complain re:cold food?

As long as you don't start a scene, I would expect the same as any non Disney restaurant. They would apologize and bring me a plate of hot food. It is not like they want you to have a bad meal.

We complained about cold food at Narcooses they took it away we waited another 30 mins and came back with equally cold plates

I have not received cold food however I have sent a lot back for it not being cooked the way i like it. I eat all my meat well done, clue if you plate food and there is blood comming out chances are it is not well done. I was once in a restaurant and I was told the chef refused to cook my food well done as it does not taste the way it should. excuse me who is eating it the chef or I . Another thing that bothers me is when they char the outside and inside well as I say it is still mooing . Serve the food the way I like to eat it.

If the food is cold, or otherwise not satisfactory (i.e. a steak over/under cooked) then respectfully pointing it out to the server will more than likely get you an apology and a replacement meal.

Disney buffets are normally super busy so the food turnover is quick and not likely going to result in anything being cold. But, if you did come across this and it was an item you really wanted, then I would think pointing that out to them would result in a replenishing of that item. I've never had this happen though and honestly, I go in expecting buffet food to be more warm than hot, it's just he nature of the beast and a reason why I'm generally not a huge fan of buffets. I really only do them at Disney for the characters.

Many chefs feel a well-done piece of meat is an inferior product & don't want their name/restaurant/reputation/talent to be associated with it.

I don't think so. I don't believe any food could be returned for warming after it has been out on the buffet line. I would believe that is a food safety issue.

There's been times someone at my table has had bacon that practically still oinking (not really but you get the idea), and have asked if it can be made more well done/crispy and they've always accommodated. Whether they take the plate of what's given to them, dump it out and just fry up new bacon I don't know.

I don't know why it's expected that you're going to receive bad food? It happens, but it's Disney. They'll do their best to fix it. Also, I worked at a chain pizza restaurant and we take remakes seriously. Yes, it's annoying and we hate having to do it, but the thought to do anything to the pizza never crosses our minds. I didn't even think that was a concern until I read this thread.

We ate dinner at BOG a few years ago, and the guy at the next table kept complaining about his salmon being under cooked. The waitress tried to tell him that it was supposed to be a little rare, but he wasn't having it. She took it back at least twice, until it was completely overcooked and dried out, and then he was happy.

I jest. I send things back at restaurants, usually for an under or over cooked steak or burger. Sometimes if the food is cold. I'm always polite and always explain what the reason is. Really never have a problem, at Dis or otherwise.

I got a cold steak at Akershus a couple of years ago. It was close to closing, but not crowded at all. I politely sent it back, and they brought me... another cold steak. The manager came over to check on me and I told her that the second steak was no better than the first one. She comped my meal which I ate by myself since my wife had eaten her meal while I was waiting. Haven't been back since.

I have never sent food back anywhere (and we eat out a lot). Nothing really annoys me as far as food goes. If I don't like the taste, I won't order it next time. If I don't like the service, it's reflected in the tip and I won't come back (but mostly I just care if my drink is refilled when it's empty). I have never had cold food. Warm or room temp. sometimes, but I don't mind that. Most Disney meals I've had are in the mediocre to nice range. Service is typically good and accommodating. I'm sure you won't have any problem sending "cold" food back. I hope you have a nice trip.

If you send back food, it will be thrown away and you'll get a replacement - they can't throw a steak back on the grill if it's been out of their sight on your plate, there are cross contamination issues.

I wouldn't go in assuming food will be bad though; if you look for fault, you'll most likely find it.

See, it's our first family (of 7) visit and I think with Food and Wine at Epcot and 2 character breakfasts and a castle QS ADR, the magic will hold up. But I just wondered why there weren't more reports of awesome customer service when complaints have to happen! I know buffets are not awesome, totally agree, but with kids ages 6-14 and with extra dietary restrictions, it will work best for us as our one TS meal.

Because few bother to report I had great service. They only report sucky service. Doesn't mean there wasn't great service just means, why report/review when everything went perfectly and you got exactly what you wanted?

When the chefs are paying for my meal they can cook it as they please when I am paying for they need to cook it the way I like it as I don't give a rats patoootie what they consider an inferiour product if I can't eat it then it truily is a inferior product. Except for the management that knows that people don't come to a restaurant to experience great management, they come to experience a great chef. It's not unusual for the chef to run things, even if they have a manager as the front/face of the restaurant.

I know it's annoying when a chef won't cook the way you want them to but there really are some who won't.

Oh I know that, but what the chef's think is great food to me is disgusting, I can't eat meat that is still mooing , I did walk out of a restaurant in Disney 2 years ago the manager tried to get me to stay without my food being well done or he would get me chicken, really I don't want chicken I want prime rib well done, period, the chef isn't eating it I am.
